Why wouldn't Lyme antibodies show up in spinal fluid??

So I'm debating with a neurologist whether or not I have Lyme. Recently I had a spinal tap and no antibodies showed up in the fluid. He said it would show up there if I had Lyme. I had read somewhere that it wouldnt show up because of the amt of ABX I've been on in the last year. Why would the abx make the antibodies go away?

I tested positive for lyme with igenx but negative tap. I think if you have chronic lyme, then your body doesn't fight it and maybe you don't generate antibodies. Maybe lyme creates immune system dysfunction too. Who knows, just wild guesses.

It's not about the antibodies going away, it's about whether a test is able to capture them. Also, notoriously, neurologists don't understand Lyme.

The problem with using that as an explanation Happyjo is that it's from those that side with IDSA - "Second, a PCR can be easily contaminated, producing false positive results." As if a specimen can easily be contaminated with Lyme in a lab.

But I do agree with the first part of their explanation! They just like to hide some untruths in with a bit of truth to make it sound better.

That's okay, I did the same thing when I first found them. It's hard to tell who the "players" are in this "game" sometimes!! Especially when they speak only partial truths with lies hidden around them!
