Anyone has any experience with cefdinir, good or bad?

I hear it's one of the best cephalosporins for lyme. It's a 3rd generation one, passes into the blood brain barrier, has a longer half life than many of the others, and can be taken at lower doses. I would take it but it's not available in Canada! Darn.

Cephalosporins kill lyme best when they are reproducing but they also slowly kill the non-reproducing ones too.

Son has a ear infection and PCP gave him cefdinir. His experience with it is not good. Last time they gave it to him for a sinus infection it did nothing. A week later he ended up hospitalized with double ear infection, sinus infection and pneumonia. So I wonder if it does anything at all. 10 days cefdinir I fear it may stir the Lyme up and the side effects are pretty bad for some, including seizures. Given his past seizure activity, I wonder if it will do more harm than good because the last thing I would want is for the seizures to return in order to get the benefit of treating a ear infection.
