So upon my discovery of my MTHFR mutations, I ordered a methyl folate supplement and continued to take my methyl b12 supplement as I had been taking the last few weeks.
The methyl folate still has not arrived. But, I just noticed that my methyl b12 is making me sick. This is the second time I have had a horrendous headache after taking it. At first, I didn't suspect it was the b12 because I have been taking it since the first part of Feb with no issues. I also noticed that the last few times I have gone to the sauna I have had a very hard time getting a good sweat even with high temperatures. Previously, this was not an issue. Wondering if I am too toxic with too much circulating to be able to get it out?
Then I ran across this article:
http://mthfr.net/methylfolate-side-effects/2012/03/01/
This helps explain that I have over-methylated and that it is not uncommon to initially feel good, and then bad. I need to stop and then work my way up slowly. I think finding the right amount for each individual can be tough. In the meantime, I took a niacin capsule and the headache is subsiding, but not gone.
My question is this....Are the adverse effects simply just because it is too much circulating in my blood, or, is it because the body is finally receiving bioavailable form of the folate it needs for methylation causing all the stored toxins and unavailable forms to be pulled out and processed?
Any thoughts are appreciated!
