I don't know if oil pulling is mainly for detox or to kill the bacteria in the mouth? I would say it does both. I would think since coconut oil is antibacterial, it kills the bacteria in the mouth but also pulls the toxins from dead bacteria out. We all have bacteria in the mouth (some more than others, especially if there are any dental problems) and when we chew the food and swallow it, the bacteria goes in the body. I do not think an antimicrobial oil will make you herx more because you spit the oil out, don't you? So whatever toxins or bacteria gets stuck to the oil, it gets out, without being redistributed in the body--I can't see how that would cause a herx, like the other ways of detoxing with other products, which are not spit out? I think the oil pulling is the ideal way to get rid of bacteria and toxins without much of a herx. Obviously we don't want it in our mouth, and from the mouth to the gut and everywhere else--we want it out!
The cheapest organic oil may not have the same properties as coconut oil or olive oil. So I do not think the other oils do the same thing. I am all about
saving money, but instead of buying cheaper stuff, I buy it in bulk and still get the best stuff I can get.
Dr. K mentioned zeolite too, but he says there are a lot of products on the market that are advertized as zeolite that are toxic, so I haven't tried any yet. He says a lot of companies are advertising zeolite but most of it is not good. I don't know, maybe you found a good company. Which one are you using?
I think for external use the clays would be ok, but still, I would go with one that is low in aluminum because I just don't want to take a chance because I want to also put it on my son's soles--his soles are hurting every night and I have to give him a pack of ice for his soles and ankles to be able to fall asleep.
They are probably ok and won't break your plumbing LOL since so much water is in your bath, hopefully more water than clay? :)
Yes, I use the horse tail tea for detox--we all use it, I give it to the kids too. I bought it from Mountain Rose Herbs and I think it's $10 for 1 lb, but it will probably last you at least a year even if you drink 3 cups per day! It's a lot to go around for one person in that bag! It is like half of a pillow, because is very light, so 1 lb goes a long way! Some herbs that I got from them are heavier, so they came in a much smaller bags, but to my delight, I got a lot of the horsetail tea and a lot of cat's claw! I first bought the organic horsetail tea in tea bags from a different company and I paid about
$.50 for each of the little bags, so it is a better idea to get it in balk, of course, if you have some extra money that you can invest in herbs for future use--the savings will be substantial in the long run. All of their herbs that I got at mountainroseherbs are organic and come with the USDA organic seal. They are also recommanded by Buhner, so it's a good company.
"I hope the Rhassoul isn't too expensive"
Rhassoul is not too expensive--in fact the green clay that MountainRoseHerbs are selling is $1 per lb more than the Rhassoul. They have 5 different clays and they come in different sizes. You can also go on Amazon and see what people say about Rhassoul clay by checking the reviews. Here is a link to the clays that Mountain Rose Herbs is selling and if you click on "more details" for each one, you can compare the amounts of magnesium, silica, and aluminum:
https://www.mountainroseherbs.com/catalog/ingredients/clay
ALSO, if you need herbs, it may be a good idea (if you have the funds) to see their herbs too, because it will make the shipping lower per item. Here are their herbs: https://www.mountainroseherbs.com/catalog/herbs/bulk
IF you buy from them, here are their discount for bulk purchases (I bought over 25 lb of herbs last time and I got 25% off) that applies to herbs and teas--IT DOES NOT APPLY TO CLAYS OR OTHER ITEMS: https://www.mountainroseherbs.com/ordering/discounts
I am very happy with everything I ordered from them :) I am making my own tinctures with some of the herbs, so yes, I am also looking for cheap alternatives, but I would rather buy this way (in balk) to save money, I can't sacrifice quality for a cheaper price, but everyone can afford so much and some can afford more than others or just charge it and deal with it in a month when the bill comes. Since I am using the products for treatment, I will try to always get the best quality, especially because I use some of the products for my sick children, who are young (5, 9, and 10). RIght now I am looking to buy some of their chinese teas and I am looking at what else to combine it with to still get a discount.
So after a 25% discount I get a huge bag of horsetail tea for only $9 including shipping! I don't think I can beat that! For about 30 items (herbs and a few other things) the shipping was about $30 and I got a 25% discount of the total, so I am happy, but yeah, I had to spend over $300 to get a big discount (some things I bought were non-herbal so they did not qualify for the discount but qualified for the cheap shipping because the shipping per item goes down dramatically if you buy a lot of products).
RIght now I would like to get the large tea infuser, but they are out, so by the time they get it, they may be out of other items that they have now if I wait--it happened before--but I really want to get my hands on that large tea infuser! LOL The kids would love to put the tea in it :) Since they still don't have it, I will get the cotton muslin bags in different sizes, so that each kid can have his/her own bag, and they will love the idea and ask for more tea--I know they will, and that's why I will get them LOL It is worth the small investment if I can get them to drink more tea :) Plus I won't have to deal with getting the herbs out and the strainers that are supposed to be stainless--but are not, they get rusty and I end up throwing them out.
BTW, I love the horsetail tea, it tastes pretty good, nothing gross like some of the bitter herbs.
I hope this helps and I hope I answered all your questions the best I could:)
Oh, the horsetail tea has silica, so yes, I use it for detox, dr. K says it detoxes the kidneys and... that is v. important because he says that if the kidneys have lots of toxins and the cells get damaged, every cell that is damaged, gets "marked for extinction" by the immune system. Auch! So, I am trying to prevent that, while my kids are dealing with those stupid diseases, they are young and need their kidneys to work properly, so I figure I'd use the horsetail tea and best part: They all love it :) and maybe it saves their kidneys, in the process of sipping it.
