Replication Cycles for Lyme & Co's?

I know I've heard that Lyme reproduces slower, I think every 4 weeks or so and that is why symptoms can creep in slowly like that.

That made me wonder -- how often does Bartonella (or other co-infections) replicate? I heard Bart was something like every 24 hours, but I can't remember 100% Does anybody know anything about that?

What is the difference between it's "replication time" and it's "cycles"?

Thanks for the info LymePickle! I just started slowly treating Bart 2 weeks ago. I'm only on the Bart meds 4 days per week though. My LLMD wanted to see if I had side effects of the meds, so we started slow and will increase in a few weeks.

I haven't had any symptom improvements yet from the medication. Is it just too soon to tell? I just saw him yesterday and he said we were starting slow and working our way up to being more aggressive.

My LLD has me doing Rifampin every single day or he says it can become resistant to the infection. But the zithromax I'm 5 days on, 2 off and tindi I do 3 days out of the month.

LP do you take everything 7 days a week and what are you taking again besides Rifampin?

I also do xylital & lactoferrin for biofilm.

I never noticed a cycle, always had pain and other symptoms all the time.

Revive... I'm taking minocycyline 100 mg twice daily, Azithromycin 500 mg daily, and rifampin 600 mg daily.

I do have my "lazy days" though where I take my Abx only once in the day and those days I take 1 mino, 2 azithro, and 2 rifampin all at once. Azithro has the long half life of like 68 hours so as long as I keep taking it I should be good.

And I am happy with this triple antibiotic treatment and it is working! Thank God. I feel practically normal now.

I am also taking lumbrokinase... The boluoke brand, and I take 2 capsules twice daily right before my antibiotics.

LP - Is mino easier on the body than doxy?

Do you get liver enzymes checked monthly? If so, is your ALT ever raised?

Dr. C. may be pulling me off my meds when I tell him that my last lab work showed elevated ALT still.

So, how will I do Rifampin? Or is switching to a different med better for the liver?
I'm wondering if I should do mino with rifampin if mino is easier on the liver. Dr. C. wants me to do doxy again with rifampin.

Girlie, I think doxy and mino are more or less the same. They both have advantages and disadvantages over each other. I think mino is easier on the digestive tract, but could cause problems with the thyroid. Doxy is mostly metabolized by the colon... Mino is obviously has better lipid penetration so it goes inside bacteria, cells, nerves, and passes into the brain better.

I actually only got my blood work done twice I think, I just recently got my 3rd time of blood work done. So far it's always come back as normal.

Have you considered the milk thistle or other liver support supplements? I also take my multi daily... I'm tolerating it really well and have no yeast and perfect poops!

I feel SOO much better on the rifampin... Really I feel like I'm home free now as long as I take my medications which I will continue to.

I think rifampin really is the best option for bart treatments. You probably already know the other options by now. I saw on lymemd he thinks rifampin is the best choice overall now for bart treatment.

Maybe your issues that remain are bart? It sounds like it to me because you weren't infected for that long and you have been at a treatment standstill for some time now.

LP - I take milk thistle - 2 caps twice daily. But, I did read that bart can cause elevated liver enzymes...and it's just the ALT. I also read that it can be in the hundreds and still be okay. Mine hasn't reached 100 yet. (range is <50)
Mine have been: 29, 76, 45, 62, 55, 87, 73, 92.
I wasn't really concerned, until the last one. It could be the addition of Tinidazole. I started that after the 55 test.

yes, I know about rifampin and also the levaquin (sp?) - I will do rifampin - maybe my body will respond differently and my liver will be okay...I know it can be hard on the liver.

Dr. C. said to take the milk thistle along with ALA, and L-Cysteine...and not take Tini within 24 hours prior to testing. He said if they don't resolve we'll have to make a change. He told me that when he saw the 73. So here we are with a 92.

Thanks Mauihawaii - I'm feeling better now. I just get so overwhelmed with the slow progress.

BTW - I love Hawaii. My husband and I were married at the Royal Hawaiin Hotel in Waikiki. Then we honeymooned in Maui.
