There are some people for whom one antibiotic is the perfect cure and they are off and running.
That hasn't been the case for me at all. It has been a slow trail to progress: starting with one antibiotic, adding some herbs, then a second antibiotic, then swapping out one of the antibiotics, and then a complete shift over to another (and repeat). Each time I would plateau or back slide, my doctor would change the protocol. It has worked, slowly and steadily -- although not totally smooth: often the change in protocol initiated a huge herx and subsequent improvement afterwards.
I see now that my doctor has been see sawing between treating Lyme and Babesia, as if prying off a sticky lid. If he had gone after one too much, the other would have gone haywire.
Another thing is that he seems to have been "herding" the bacteria into cyst form and then applying a cyst buster. To a certain degree, I have been helping with that: when I start to plateau I challenge my system by going on a trip or increasing my exercise regimen, or by getting the flu!
I wish it were a matter of finding the one key antibiotic, but that hasn't been the case for me. It doesn't mean you won't get well, however.
