Is there such thing as treatment resistant Lyme?

Can some Lyme cases be treatment resistant? Are there some people who don't get better no matter what they try?

Don't know about lyme, but our daughter's bartonella was treatment resistant until we addressed her underlying, negative testing, asymptomatic babesia infection.

Some people don't get better but I believes there's an underlying problem like rowingmom said that needs addressed first.

Agreed. At the end of 2007, I was had the diagnosis of treatment resistant Lyme disease. In 2010, I found my way to heal through herbs and Traditional Chinese Medicine with acupuncture.

It took a lot of what Chinese Medicine calls 'body work' - getting your body to start functioning again on it's own, with a lot of herbs to support it until it could - I actually had 6 months of treatments (going every two weeks) before I could start treatment for Lyme or anything else because my body was so debilitated.

The take away here is each of us has a very unique body. We have to find what will work with our body to not only heal the infections, but help the body get back up and "running on all cylinders" before we find our healing. No easy task for many of us.

You know what?

There are so many co infections (and new one constantly appearing) out there, that it's likely you have one that isn't being treated.

Not to mention mold and heavy metals.

Utah, I guess you're concerned about yourself, but you haven't been treating long enough to declare yourself treatment resistant. Don't give up!

I feel that there are changes in the bugs the longer we have them. Dr. K says that the DNA of borrelia is al long as the pages in a whole Bible! He says when we get tested and test positive, ONLY one sentence of that bible long DNA is tested for. If the DNA of borrellia gets mixed up with the DNA of the viruses we are exposed to, the abx are less effective. He also said that the DNA of the bugs became part of our DNA! Crazy! If we look of our genome it now has incorporated the genome of the bugs! He also says that certain pesticides eg. Roundup do something to the detoxing enzymes and also make it more difficult for us to detox especially from heavy metals, not to mention what they do to the gut, where 70% of out immune system is, hence compromising it. And then the abx that we r exposed to from the abx treated animals make the abx less effective whenwe need them for treatment, I think... The list goes on...

If it's hard for us to get rid of bugs, how hard is going to be for future generations? So, if the viral component of the bugs is not addressed, some people may not respond to abx. This makes sense since some people do well with herbals and don't respond to abx. Some herbs are both natural abx and natural antivirals and do not introduce heavy metals and chemicals that a very sick Lyme patient that has problems with detox pathways to start with, can't get rid of. My 2 cents...
