I have read some articles on Doxy and it seems the bugs will run from it and hide in cyst form or bio films. So I don't see the point of giving it to someone unless combined with a cyst/biofilm buster. What makes even less sense is that many first infections of Lyme are treated with up to 4 weeks of abx but Lyme bacteria reproduces every 4 (some say 4-6) weeks. In this case it is likely that from the beginning drs prescribed a treatement that will make the bugs to hind AND also not hitting even one of the reproduction cycles.

So why give someone doxy for months or years at the time without a cyst buster? It seems like a plan that is likely to fail. Any thoughts?

I ask myself the same question. I think the reason why Lyme is becoming so prevalent is because it IS a superbug. Beyond it being, at times, antibiotic resistant before you even start treatment, it can learn to become more resistant when starting your journey of long-term antibiotics.

Combating Biofilms is a book that explains why Doxy makes Lyme form cysts. Dr. Klinghardt has his own explanations as well.

Personally, Doxy undermined my treatment. It wasn't until I started working with my Lyme and my immune system, focusing a little bit on antimicrobials but more on inflammation and nutritional balancing that I saw improvements

I'm not a doctor, but I do feel very strongly that doxy has helped me a great deal. I do feel like it is a good idea to add cyst and biofilms busters, as well as use at least one other antibiotic. Doxy treats a number of co-infections as well as Lyme.

I don't think it is right for everyone. It also can be very hard on the stomach. I almost gave up on it. Everyone responds differently. It is a matter of finding the right cocktail.

Just my opinion.

Most LLMD's and LLND's will add a cyst buster at some point in the treatment...especially, if you're not getting well, or you're stalled out.

It can be an effective part of treatment, but not as a stand alone treatment - but then again, most things are that way. I don't believe there is any one thing that can help everyone or even one person, it takes a combination of things no matter what you use.

Girlie, I can't see your posts. I wonder why! I see you replied but I have to click on your name and go to your profile to see what you said and I can only see a little bit of it. I wonder if this happens to others or is it just me? THis is with everything you post, not just this post. You are sort of invisible to me.

Yes, it makes sense but none of the GPs do it! So when someone goes to the GP,which was the case with most of us at first, they give us doxy and no cyst buster. Maybe if the GPs would at least do a cyst buster, not so many of us would end up seeing a LLMD and suffer needlessly in the first place. Also if the LLMDs would introduce a cyst buster sooner, that could lessen the amount of time we would need to treat, rather than letting the doxy to create the cysts and than deal with it, when it could be prevented to start with?

I think maybe the cyst buster isn't given right away with the doxy is because the herxes would be too much. In later stage lyme, even without antibiotics, maybe the lyme has already gone into cyst form...and if you kill the spirochetes, plus cyst bust - it would be the mother of all herxes?

Just a thought...

I thing the cyst busters are busting your posts LOL :-)

Also, when somebody posts and you are the only one who replied to them, on my screen it shows your name so I know you replied to that post, but the counter for replies says "0", like no one replied, so it doesn't count you. The other counters are fine when you are not counted, so it appears to be just you! It must be the cyst busters LOL

I hope it changes because if you take the time to answer, I want to at least see it!

You may have accidentally clicked on the "ignore" button that is on everyone's posts. It's the ""thumbs down" in the upper right corner of each post. You can go to your profile to see who's on your ignore list and change it though.

If that's not it, it's a "glitch" in the system and maybe you could write to Admin and explain what is going on? I don't know if anything can be done or not though.

I'm glad it was an easy fix!! And the reason I thought of it was because I've done that a time or two myself!! wink LOL!
