Hi there,

So glad to have found this community. I've been dealing with "mystery" health issues for 2 years now (ups and downs), have started suspecting Lyme & friends. A lot of the posts around here remind me of me.....tired all the time, short of breath a lot, some pain in chest & abdomen. Exercise intolerance too, though I haven't seen that on many symptom lists? Adrenal related perhaps. Also am humbled by the good attitudes many seem to have even with much worse health difficulties than me :).

Anyhow, I'm looking for some good help in north Idaho or eastern Washington. Anyone have good ideas? I got one Dr's name already from my GP's office, but that one is a bit of a distance. Also blessed to have some friends who've dealt with Lyme (or at least suspected Lyme) - trying to get a hold of one of them.

Have been hitting some antimicrobial EOs internally for 1-1/2 weeks or so, 3 times a day. Have done a couple of the detox baths too. Not sure if I've gotten reactions or not - my knees hurt a bit more than before maybe.

Welcome to the forum -- glad you found us.

If you haven't already, do have a look at the "New to Lyme?" thread, it has a lot of good information and helpful resources.

So is this doctor you've located in Seattle? For you to say it is a distance must mean pretty far, you being from Idaho! I used to live in Lewiston and it was considered an "easy drive" to Seattle, even though it takes six hours!!

One of our members here might be along with a suggestion for a doctor. You can also go to ilads.org to get a physician referral.

Though I don't have any recommendations, I just wanted to chime in and say I graduated from the UofI in Moscow spring of 2011. Miss that area greatly. I now live in DC. Please say hi to the great Palouse for me!

No, thankfully there's at least one closer than Seattle, but they are still several hours away, I'm willing to travel but would prefer someone closer if possible. Coeur d'Alene area?

Sarah - thanks a lot for that link! I read of people getting referrals from ILADS but couldn't for the life of me find it on their web site. Brain fogs I suppose. I submitted a request earlier today, so hopefully I'll hear back soon, early next week maybe?

Fronton - yeah, there's sure some pretty country 'round here :-).


Also, I could use some advice re: testing - I am seeing my GP on Monday for some paperwork. He "doesn't treat Lyme" but I think I may be able to get him to sign a req for an Igenex test (especially considering the distance of the other doc). My question though is about test timing and protocols - I have heard some say it's better to "stir it up" (Lyme that is, if you've got it) first with a couple of weeks of antibiotics or what-have-you. Have others found that to be beneficial? I'd like to get tested ASAP if it will help, but don't want a false negative because I was too hasty. OTOH, I have been taking some pretty potent anti-microbial essential oils for almost 2 weeks.

What do you think?

You'll have to have Igenex send you a test, your doctor won't have the kit on hand (just go to the Igenex website, it is pretty straightforward). It is free for the test kit. Then you take the kit to your doctor and they draw the blood (there are specific instructions on the timing of the draw and mailing so that they don't receive it on a weekend) and sign the paperwork and send it off along with your credit card payment.

Yes, many people have had luck with testing after having had some antibiotics. The essential oils can't hurt, either, but my knowledge there is limited, perhaps another member will speak to that.

Welcome to our community!! I'm so glad you found us!! I would have replied sooner, but the only LLMD's I have in my list are in Pocatello and Boise - sorry.

But I did used to live up there!! I lived in Athol, ID (LOL - no more than a wide spot in the road when I was there!). Most of my Dad's family was up in that area and I did some growing up in Cataldo, ID as a young kid.

What about Spokane, Wa? If that's doable for you, just send me an email with the state and area you are hoping to find a LLMD in and I'll be happy to share that information!!

And of course, if you haven't ​yet​, it would be helpful for you to start with reading through the thread at the top of the forum titled,"New to Lyme?...Start here!!", as it is packed full of important information, symptom lists, helpful links and pdf's, how to detox when one has these infections, information on probiotics and much more.​
