MethylPrednisolone PAK, not the same as stronger steriods, OK while low immune?

I'm aware that full strength steroid Rx lowers immune response (whats the term- immuno supressive?), and should be avoided by us.

Two Drs (1 LLMD) (1 pain Dr) said this short term 6 day "PAK" is ok to use with low immune system illnesses.

I'm skeptical, but would like to hear from others that used this..???

I'm feeling stronger now, but CD 57 is still low (useless test from what I hear).

This was suggested for stubborn low back pain by the pain / spine Dr.

I could write a book on back re-hab, but my SI and L-5 still flair up for weeks at a time and I'd like to try something different. This can do wonders for some people in just 6 days.

Dont want to reverse things as far as lyme healing.

I would not take any steroids unless I would be on abx. Period.

I tested positive 7 yrs ago. Symptoms were mild. I was treated with abx for a month. 2 years later I got injured in a car accident--legs and back. The orto surgeon gave me 2 steroids shots in my leg. Within 2 weeks I was in excruciating pain and almost crippled. That is when I realized that I still had Lyme and how it feels to have it! I would not take any steroids unless I would also be on abx.

I had to take 3 abx combo for a year to fix the damage done by steroids. Not worth it! Prior to the steroids I and Lyme were co habiting without any problems. I was healthier and asymptomatic and I didn't even realize I had not only Lyme but also Bartonella. If it wasn't for the steroids shots, I would have not needed to treat with abx for a whole year. Proceed with caution. I would not take the risk unless in excruciating pain and also I would take abx to cover both Lyme and barto since you had the barto rashes.

Now I know better: no steroids ever again unless my Life depends on it. Steroids do help some people with pain but not all.

Its a tapered dose for 6 days only. 4mg each pill. I think the slang jargon is a "Mep Pak" or somthing like that.
