It seems that Dr. J. posts an article every year about ammonia and Leaky Brain Syndrome. He recently released yet another article on the topics. Of course, in the progress of science, more details are now available than ever before. The articles are very informative and eye-opening, as some of you suffer from this affliction.

Thank you Don for posting links to these articles. I just got through reading this one last night...http://www.jnutra.com/Ammonia.html. Since Toby was diagnosed with ALS, I have been interested in reading on this topic. They really are revelations.

Thanks for posting Don. Dr J has provided a lot of insight and I agree with most of what he says. Ammonia is a huge issue for patients with vector borne diseases. We could have a very good and beneficial discussion on the topic.

I am taking his neuro tox formula, hoping that helps with my mixed bag of diagnosis's

I also started ldn two night ago. Will try and do anything to feel and get better. Thanks for posting these articles.

I found this bit to be very interesting: "Many of my patient previously diagnosed with LD have reported that brain MRI's found MS-type plaques on their brain. These plaques are likely from the increased ammonia from the Borrelia burgdorferi bacteria."

I had an MRI in March that found a few periventricular lesions. My neuro is concerned it's MS and is having me retest in a few months, but I wonder if it's Lyme. She told me flat out that they're not Lyme lesions, but she is a standard neuro (not ILADS friendly). I've also tested CDC positive for Lyme on the Western blot, so there's no doubt that I have Lyme. The question is, do I have both (which would be quite rare).

In the last month or so, my underwear has frequently smelled of ammonia, so I assume I have a high accumulation at the moment.

Sigh. Stupid disease.

Yep... i asked my Doc about it (reg MD) ... i said that i noticed a strange smell in the bathroom... she looked a bit puzzled then said that i was probably dehydrated... she was wrong. These regular MD's never cease to amaze me with ignorance...feigned or otherwise.
