Hey all,
We just got permission to have a sticky thread (one that stays at the top of the forum) for success stories!!! turn Woo hooo!!!

So please, in order to keep it organized and accurate, we would like to have the success stories submitted to a Mod first to be sure that in each story the person has actually healed, not just made progress. We can't let this thread get super long so this is just a way to keep the available "slots" for posts to those that have actually been healed.

My story:

Looking back and testing my Mom's memory (LOL!), we determined that I had RMSF (the spotless variety!) at the age of 7, late stage Bartonella at the age of 8, and Lyme arthritis (a late stage symptom) at the age of 9. Although I had 1 full year of abx in 2007 - I didn't get effective treatments until 2010 - so that means that I was 47 when I got effective treatments.

When I first joined here, I was scared, very ill and had no clue about any of this! I was so very compromise cognitively that I had to have someone explain every little detail of things, and many times it still took days for me to understand. I got so bad that I couldn't figure out how to post for almost a year.

I was "lucky" enough to get reinfected 2 years after healing the first time, went back on the same protocol for 5 months and have healed yet again. I've been symptom free for 110 days as of this post!!

Hang on people!! There is hope and it's worth all the work!!

Life can be good again!! :-)

Duh Traveler, LOL!

Infected in 1995 and had many symptoms (flu-like symptoms, exhaustion, lost the use of my legs for a long time, falling down, hip pain, joint pains, memory loss).

Went to several doctors and not one of them could tell me what was wrong with me.

After 5 years of doctor hopping I decided to do my own research and everything I read came up lyme disease as well as ehrlichiosis. Needed medical proof so a doctor would believe me. Found a nurse I knew from years ago that performed dark field microscopy and we watched my spirochetes. Then went to another doctor who sent me to a Lyme Literate ID. First this doctor sent my blood to IgeneX (never heard of them). Test came back +++'s for lyme and ehrlichia. This doctor gave me doxy which made me sick.

Stopped the doxy, joined a forum (not this one), and heard about Dr. Jernigan. I bought his book, followed his protocol from his book (not the Perfect 7 as this protocol was not available back then), learned about detoxing, internal cleanses, diet, stress.

That was 9 years ago and I'm still healed. Yay!!

Deeja, I've heard Jernigan has helped a lot of people, but his formulas are so expensive! Using a book is definitely better than going to an expensive clinic. I would be interested in knowing what your monthly expenses were.

A lot of folks have been helped by Cowden (including myself, but I stopped the second time around bc of diarrhea). If you do Cowden, by all means don't do all the formulas, as your herx will be unmanageable. Learn what you can, then be selective. Start with Samento and Banderol (plus detox herbs) and go from there. You can get his formulas on iherb (don't use his website, unless you're going to do the whole package, which, in my opinion, would be foolish).

Buhner is also very helpful to some folks, though again, proceed with caution.

Then there's the Misty Meadows protocol, which can also be made into an alcohol-free tea.

I wish some of those things had helped me long-term, but I think I have a really complex case.

Hi Margaret,

Most months it cost me about $100.00 as I took Borrelogen and CNS/PNS Neuro-Antitox. Each bottle was $48.00 plus shipping. The protocol said to take the Borrelogen for 2 months but I kind of changed it around and took it for 3 or 4 months, I don't remember as it was so many years ago. Then I stopped the Borrelogen and took Microbojen (still taking the Neuro-Antitox). Then after a couple of months I took all 3 together (Borrelogen, Microbojen and the Neuro-Antitox) so that's when it costs me $150.00 a month.

The extra's were Epsom salts, hydrogen peroxide, organic coffee for the enema's, little things like that.

Hi Margaret,

Most people don't like the word cured, I don't know why. According to Dr. Jernigan's blog below, yes, I am CURED all these years!! I think I will always have lyme bacteria as one can never fully get rid of all of the bacteria, but that doesn't mean I have to have lyme disease.

Although the definition of the word "cure" is to bring about health again(www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/cure), in the Lyme world, people assume that the word 'cured' means they will never have to worry about the infection resurfacing, which isn't the case with Lyme.

As far as we know at this point in time, a small amount of Lyme bacteria will survive treatments. What we don't know is if those bacteria that survive are capable of creating an active infection again. And since our testing is so poor still, we have no way of knowing if those that have had Lyme are just more susceptible to getting it again or if it's a relapse.

Even in my own case, where I knew the details of events rather well (LOL!), it took me a couple of months of going over it all before I could be as sure as I can that I was reinfected, and that I didn't just relapse.

Honestly, in my way of thinking, I see that this little controversy was started by people that wished to start and keep controversy going within the ranks of those that have these infections. I was also warned to not call Lyme a "disease" as it freaked people out - how much more can we be freaked out than when we find out we have a Lyme infection or Lyme disease???? But now it's habit for me, since I talk to those that aren't educated about Lyme lots of time.

Hey Denise/Dejavu,

I have some of Jernigans Neuroantitox CNS/PNS on the way. Do you think it will provide any relief if there's toxin buildup in the brain? I only ordered 2 Oz to try it out. I really don't have the money to give it an extended trial.

Does Jernigans protocols cover Co - infections and if so, which tincture did you take?

Yes Traveler, that's why I don't like to use the word "cured"... If I ever get infected again at least I now have all the tools to know what to do. My thinking is by keeping my immune system as strong as possible, I won't (hopefully) get infected. Living in the mountains I am surrounded by all sorts of bugs, ticks, fleas, you name it, we have it!! Yet I go out to do my gardening, go hiking, etc. and so far so good!

Superj50, I wish I could tell you that 2 oz. of the Neuro-Antitox would help you but I can not tell a lie. I think you would need to be on the botanical a lot longer for it to mop up the ammonia and other neuro-toxins in order to rid your brain and body of them.

I took 3 botanicals which did heal my coinfection of ehrlichia which was Borrelogen, Microbojen, and the Neuro-Antitox. But that was the easy part! The hard part was getting myself into a routine of taking detox baths, dry skin brushing, doing coffee enema's, internal cleanses, changing my diet, exercise, and addressing my stress levels in order to lower them.
