Anyone have kidney/bladder/intestinal issues?

My dark and bubbly urine has not gone away since contracting this disease. I sometimes have lower abdominal pain, low back (kidney) pain, and really bad incontinence.

I know this sounds awful, but my PCP ran tests in January and won't again. I have mentioned before that all LLMDs are super far away from me and charge upwards of 400.

I haven't been doing detox baths. Honestly could probably drink more water, but I drink a LOT and drink a lot of detox teas as well.

As for medicine, I use the chronic tonic And buhners herbs for Lyme, Bart, and babs.

What's making me nervous is that my feet and legs swell, I have poor circulation, and I get really cold!

I get nervous about my kidneys, so please tell me this is normal and there is a fix for this!

My tests have been good, except for ONE urinalysis that showed protein in it and WBC and occult blood (very small traces of all these). PCP said it was okay, but I don't think it is.

Blood tests were fine and all other urinalysis since have been fine, but I have not been tested since early FEB. however, all of these symptoms have been present since December.

Please someone help me out with how to prevent organ failure. I know I need to detox more!!

I had horrible urinary incontinence and constipation issues with Lyme!

I had/have intestinal cramping that created psuedo-blockages. The cramping wasn't relieved by any of the pharma meds that the doctors were willing to try with me, but I did finally find a combination of three herbs that help stopped that - which I remain on to this day.

As Jrpsf said, magnesium is the go-to thing for constipation, although I would recommend magnesium oxide as it is exceptional at pulling more water into the bowels (so be sure to drink plenty of water!!). Start off with a small dose and build up until your stools are loose, then back down on the dose just a bit to find your appropriate dose.

As for the urinary incontinence - that's likely due to Lyme. I have a horrible time with it each time I get infected!! Drink lots of unsweetened cranberry juice to be sure that there's no infection, and then try to get through your treatments.

There are urinary incontinence pads (for men and women!) that you can use for now, and there is an over the counter med that I've seen (my Mom had to use it for a while) even on the shelve of my little dinky Walmart called Oxytrol that you can check to make sure it's not going to react with something else you are taking and try it if you wish.

Trav, did you have dark urine if you didn't drink a lot of water? On/off kidney pain?

Yes, I had dark urine, dark enough to be quite startling to be honest! I have learned to drink no less that 1/2 gallon of water a day - ever. On hot days, I can drink over a gallon of water, but you do need to watch your electrolytes when you drink that much water.


I'm not sure if I had kidney pain or if it was all liver pain, but I know that I did have enough concerns that I drank quite a bit of unsweetened cranberry juice - about one bottle per month, drinking 1 glass a day.


You can trust the regular tests that they do for kidney/UTI infections - they've been doing those for a very long time. If they aren't showing an infection, then you almost certainly don't have an infection and can assume that they are symptoms from Lyme I believe.

Thank you Trav! In the back of my mind, I'm always thinking, "babesia leads to organ failure," and that just stresses me out to no end when I get to thinking about it.

I was just dealing with my grandmother that is having real trouble with her heart, so I'm thankful to have so much knowledge to self treat my health conditions.

It just worried me a bit because all the doctors said I had mild UTIs that would go away on their own. And then my last test was super clear and perfect!

The bubbles and foamy appearance also bother me a bit, but that is only when I don't drink enough water. I heard from a lady that the foam in her urine was a die off reaction, so that could be it!

Cdavis look into Bladder ease. The comments on Amazon are very helpful. It's most often used for Bladder pain and incontinence.

The only thing that makes sense is that we all have weak points in our bodies - my weakest points have always been my digestive tract, as I've had issues with it all my life. These bacteria just LOVE those weak points and they "gather" there in larger numbers, causing more disruption to it's function.

I do not have any links to articles on this, this is just what I've come to understand as I read and research for myself and others.

Foamy urine is most commonly associated with protein in the urine. Higher protein in the urine can be caused by many things, even just inflammation in the kidneys - and since Lyme is an inflammatory infection - with the inflammation even being in between the cells - it's not surprising that quite a few Lyme patients experience it.

I can't say a number like 50% or 70% because I don't think any surveys have actually been done, but it is far from uncommon - I have also experienced it for short periods of time while I was still infected.
