Hi Everyone,
To make a long story short, I was diagnosed about
2 1/2 years ago, neuro Lyme, babesia, possible Bart. Found a great doc in Pawling, got way way better. Now I am dealing primarily with nerve issues like burning, twitching, occasional stabbing pains.
In any case, my doc suggested I look at Buhner and the studies of Eva Sapi. Ordered his book; I think Buhner is great, truly unique.
However, I started Japanese Knotweed, samento, banderol (which Buhner does not recommend), and eleutherococcus. And then I had my liver checked: elevated enzymes for the first time in a long long time. Then I did some research and found a number of things that are not warned about
in Buhner's book:
Several herbs change the way many medicines are broken down by the liver. Herbs can also act as blood thinners. Herbs can also trigger bouts of low blood sugar, etc etc etc. And a new study shows that reservatrol (knotweed) made rats with ms far worse by causing nerve inflammation.
In other words, I am only advising you to BE CAREFUL. RESEARCH. SPEAK TO YOUR DOC and show your doctor the research you have found, before taking it and particularly combining them with other prescript
ion meds.
Again, I am not saying that these herbs are bad or harmful in any way; I am only saying that you should be fully informed before putting them into your system.
I hope I am helping someone out there.
Cheers
