What dose to take for tindamax?

My LLMD has two 500mg doses written on the pill bottle. I am incredibly sensitive to abx and already feel like that would be too much.

What's a good starting dose? Is 125mgs a good place to begin or should I try 250?

I was taking 500 mg twice daily.

Mine were in capsule form, so I couldn't split the dose. Are yours tablets?

Definitely start lower than prescribed amount and see how you do - maybe do 250 once daily and then after a week, go to 250 twice daily. Then after awhile go to 250 and 500....finally 500 and 500.

I've seen Tindamax dosages vary more than any other Lyme/Co's ABX prescribed.

I took it pulsed (2)500mg tabs in evening 2 consecutive days/wk.

The first night I took 1/2 dose and I started with knowing I had the following day off from work. I was also on IV Rocephin, Zith, double dose mepron, and Bactrim DS during this time. So maybe my LLMD was going on the light side 8*()

That reminds me Tickbite - mine was 500 mg daily - but only two days a week...any two days each week...

I am doing 500mg twice daily; pulsed two weeks on, two weeks off

Yeah I see a lot of variations with how this is used. My doctor said 4 days on, 3 days off a week but that seems a bit much for me.

If you start lower dose - that should help.

Going with a lower dose than prescribed should be discussed with your doctor.

It allows for your body and the disease to build a tolerance to the drug making it useless. We are given these doses for a reason.

jrpsf - Many LLMD's will have a person start low and ramp up on their antibiotics - especially if the person is sensitive to medications.

It is a good idea to let the Dr. know what you are doing, but when I discussed with mine, he said - just take full dose off the bat.
I herxed like crazy...and backed off to half dose for a few days, until the herx eased up a bit.

According to eva sapi, the bacteria itself cannot become antibiotic resistant, but the cysts it forms do become abx resistant. Since tindamax destroys these cysts, I don't think starting low is an issue.

I am to take 2000 mg once a day for 3 days and only once per month.

I agree with tickbite, the tinidazole dosing is very very different right across depending on who your LLMD is.

There is no standard dosing for tinidazole, not even with ILADs guidelines. The tinidazole works very well for lyme but keep in mind there are no studies to say use this dose of use that dose. I think the most common is to use 500 mg twice daily on the days you are using it. But I have seen some go up to 1500 mg, and the standard dosing for a parasitic infection is to take 2000 mg all at once, but then the treatment is done. And there are also all kinds of vArious pulsing methods like 1 week on 1 week off... Or just a few days of the week.

But I have heard of it just being prescribed 250 mg twice daily, or even just every other day. The European LLMDs use different dosing. I think tinidazole is one of the more toxic things to take for lyme. I don't think it's ever prescribed long term for any other infection... I guess the same is true for many Abx used for lyme.

Knowing what I know now about it, I probably wouldn't even take it now. But geez when you are in the middle of a lyme infection all you can think of is OMG I just want to get rid of this!

reba i take 500mg pill form like your LLMD says my LLMD says the same thing pulse dosing 4 days on 3 days off, its more effective this way , i forget the details of how he broke it down and how bacteria comes out the 3 off days and how it can attack the biofilm or whatever its called, im on my 3rd week of doing this alone with doxy and a ton of herbs and im noticable better. iv had a few awful scary herxes but my energy, fatigue brain fog everything is noticable improving im more active , i am sweating now when i exercise or take a suana . huge improvement with the pulsing of the tinda 500mg 4 days a week. 3 days off same days every week
