What is an effective herbal emergency tx for initial infection?

I have a friend who is very ill and just moved to an endemic area near a forest, lives w/ dogs and is fairly certain she has been infected.

She can't take abx, so what is a good alternative?

Isn't Astragalus used for a recent tick bite?

Are you saying she was already ill prior to the tick bite (with something other than !yme) or are you saying she got ill and thinks it's from a tick bite.

yes, sorry, a couple yrs ago she became ill while visiting Bali with some other ailment that hasn't been diagnosed, plus a physical injury from an accident. She has recently developed a very new and different group of sx and while visiting her MD, he looked at a couple smears and found some spirochetes.

And yes, I think you're right about the astragalus… thx!

Buhner says to start off with 1,000 mgs of astragalus and build up to 3,000 mgs daily for new infections, then stay on the 3,000 mgs for 30 days. The lower dose is to help prevent Lyme, higher dose to treat it in it's earliest stages, from what I understand.


I've been taking a dose of 3,000 mgs for 7 weeks now, I believe. I had a highly suspicious tick bite, started the raised dose, then 2 or 3 weeks later got a second highly suspicious tick bite. So far so good for me with following this.

OK thank you so much.

She just emailed me to let me know that based on a "Shee poo SO poo", a rare condition her TCM diagnosed she was told she couldn't take astragalus… as it is too "warming". Now, the infection may trump the side effect, we'll see. And perhaps a "warming' environment could be a deterrent for borrellia reproduction...

I will pass on the Buhner info.

If anyone knows of other options, please let me know!

Samento and Banderol - they are the only herbs that have been proven to reduce spirochete and cyst form. I would combine that with artemesinin to cover possible babesia as well as hh2 (houtounyia) to cover bartonella. Hh2 is a Dr. Zhang hepapro product. Artemesinin is Allergy Researxh. Samento and Banderol from the Cowden protocol.

Better to cover all her bases and these are some proven therapies.

I wish I would have had a friend like you 14 years ago when I first started getting weird symptoms..

I also wish I knew then what I know now....HA!

Well, I was seeing a Master TCM Practitioner when I was being treated the first time around and she was the one that had me using the Chronic Tonic, made as a decoction(medicinal tea).

Maybe you should suggest the Chronic Tonic to them?
