Cold & fever

From what I've seen on these forums, it goes back and forth over whether catching a cold/flu means your immune system is up or down.

Here's how I see it:
If someone's immune system is lowered, they can catch a lot of things - but the symptoms won't necessarily be there because the immune system isn't responding because it's too low - so although they may have a cold virus, their body won't produce symptoms.

If the immune system is up and they catch a virus, then they will have symptoms!! That's the immune system trying to clear out the virus.

Sorry to hear that Margaret, I would hate to have to deal with this that often. Usually if I catch a cold it lasts 3 weeks or more, I pray this one doesn't.

Trav it doesn't make since to me, I would think we are more suspect to caught things. Wish I didn't feel these symptoms

Revive, no, a cold wouldn't cause a fever of 101.

However, a respiratory virus, as well as a flu (which is respiratory by nature) would.

The flu also causes aches and pains, and makes you feel sick as all get out.

You can have other types of respiratory viruses as well.

Time to make hot tea and go to bed.

I feel much better today, starting to get a little bit of a cough now.

I can't believe I slept so much yesterday and all night without waking up. Fever is gone.

Wonder since my immune system has been wacked out if a cold could make me have the fever? Don't feel like it's a flu, was worried maybe the mosquito bite gave me something.
