Where can you find japanese knotweet in nature?

Where can you find japanese knotweet in nature?  I mean, where does it typically grow?  Deep in the woods?  Near water?  I know about growing around waste sites, but I don't want to use it from there LOL  I read it is an invasive here in PA, but I don't know where to look for it?
