We purchase tinctures from WoodLand Essence. I assume that's the company you are referring to.
Buhner's protocols are good, but his dosage recommendations are MAXIMUMS. Do not start at the recommended dosages. Please start with only 1-2 drops, which can be dropped onto a spoon or put into a drink of your choice - he does recommend pomegranate juice.
I usually prepare (infuse) my powdered herbs in the morning, divide the tea into 3 (because we dose 3x daily) and then drop the tinctures in before we drink each individual dose of tea. At the moment our tea consists of powdered Japanese knotweed, powdered houttuynia and powdered cordyceps mushroom.
There is a reason why Buhner's protocols consist of more than 1 single herb. Please don't expect too much from sida. It is considered to be antimicrobial, but for bart/babs I feel the other antimicrobials need to be used as well (houttuynia, cryptolepis, alchornea, or the CSA combination).
We actually didn't herx too much from sida; houttuynia caused more of a die-off of bart, and CSA caused more of a die-off of babesia. Buhner does think sida is 1 integral part of the protocol though.
