Acupuncture, Homeopathy, Complementary Medicine

As I've stated in previous posts I was recently diagnosed with Late Stage Lyme Disease (symptoms for 5 1/2 years now), a month ago. Almost a week ago I finished a 3 week course of Doxy from my doctor. I've been looking for LLND in my area and have found a couple but have not seen one yet.

Yesterday, a family member on my husbands side contacted me and wants me to see this doctor in my city. She is a friend of this family members good friend. She has a PHD and has come to Canada and has a practise as an acupuncturist in her wellness clinic. She has Lyme Disease herself and is very knowledgeable.

I checked out her site which lists a little bit about Lyme Disease. She does acupuncture, homeopathy, complementary medicine. On her site it says " Natural Medicine has much to offer for acute and Chronic Lyme Disease. " She offers natural supplements, herbal and acupuncture support and will help you asses your needs for adjunctive therapies and practitioners.

Again, she has Lyme Disease herself and is very knowledgeable in this disease. I'm excited to talk to her! I was set on needing to see a LLND, but now I'm wondering if maybe this Dr. will be all I need.

In addition she also offers Biomagnetic Therapy that I've read can be very beneficial in Chronic Illnesses like Lyme Disease.

Saram620 - Her website says she offers natural supplements and herbal support, so I think that would kill the bacteria! I'll find out more when I see her for an appointment.

Acupuncture was actually the only thing that could control my pain levels. I had an extremely intuitive acupuncture therapist that I saw - and it helped with a lot more than just pain too.

If you would like to email me and send me the name of this doc, I'd be happy to take a look at her site - although that's very limiting. They don't often go into how they treat Lyme on the site.

I say go, ask a TON of questions and find out how many patients she has help successfully heal. You can always come here and post the treatments she is having you do for what and we can help you determine if you are getting sufficient treatments.

I would be asking a lot about the "complementary medicine" - I used a Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioner to heal the first time and did extremely well. If she knows her stuff, she might be good!

Acupuncture is a very interesting practice. It can have an effect on many functions of the body - if the practitioner is experienced enough and that's the key.

Something you really should consider - if she has Lyme, you need to make sure she is strong enough to be there full time - because if you need her and she can't be of help because she is dealing with her own symptoms - or has brain fog - she will be of little use to you when you need her most.

But with that said - if she's pretty well healed, I agree that it would be a bonus to have a doctor that has gone through this to help you through it - it definitely would increase their understanding of how hard it is to deal with symptoms!!

I see a similar kind of doctor for lyme now and it's helping me a lot.

I did go the traditional route first, but then after a surgery I "relapsed" I guess you would call it and I've had a ton of issues lyme and otherwise since which she's been helping a lot with.

My doctor uses a lot of homeopathic stuff which actually works very well (somehow despite being into herbs and everything else natural under the sun I was still always skeptical about homeopathy) - the accupuncture helps a lot too although I'm 3 hours away and only go once a month and when I do go we do so many other things that we often don't do much in the way of accupuncture. But it helps.

To ease your worries there are plenty of people who are able to heal from lyme with natural and alternative medicine. That's all I'm doing right now and I'm doing so much better than I was (I would probably be doing even better if not for some extra stuff that went wrong besides lyme along the way).

Has balance issues ever been a troubling symptom for you by any chance, borderlyme? Or not so much? That is my main symptom of Lyme. Off balance, like I'm on a dock feeling with lighheadness and brain fog. Plus extreme fatigue. If these were/are your symptoms, have you had relief?

My balance hasn't been great all along but I don't think it's ever been one of my main symptoms. For what it's worth it's a lot better now, just not from anything specific done for that purpose.
