Hi DazedPete...I cant remember if you are the one that has mentioned you have tinnitus already or not?
If you are the one, I just want to warn you about
mixing any of the benzo's with some of the abx. You do not want further Ototoxcity to the ears especially if you already have tinnitus going on.
Benzo's can help us alot with this hellish process we go through, but I know I choose wisely when to take them depending what other meds I am on.
The best one with least otoxicity is Klonopin. Xanax is the hardest. Valium is good but it stays in your system for so long with the half-life of it ..and while this is normally a good thing, its not when ototoxicty is involved.
You can look up the list of ototoxic meds on the internet as this will give you an idea what to try and avoid mixing.
Just wanted to give you a heads up so you essentially dont alleviate one problem by worsening another
;-)
(For example, Im on Zithro right now which is known to be highly ototoxic so I risk it with the one abx because I need to get well, but as far as "doubling" the ototoxicity chances--I will not be taking any benzo's while on Zithro! I did this with taking a valium(mixed with another abx) one night before I knew much and lets put it this way...all I heard was loud "EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE" in my ear for like 24h!...Thankfully it did subside back to the normal grade tinnitus. My white noise machine saved me that night-really helps mask tinnitus)
Hope you feel better soon :)
