Can there be a false + FTA-ABS due to Lyme or co-infection?

All other syphilis test came back negative. 3 years ago I was tested bc of suspected cheating by my husband with men. Doc ordered alot of tests, one of which was FTA-ABS (leads me to believe he knew my husband had syphilis and couldnt tell me, bc why not give the screening test first?) FTA-ABS was minimally reactive and they gave me 2 rounds of IM penicillin 2.4 million units. Within a month I felt amazing, better than I had my entire adult life... followed by the weirdest roller coast ride of symptoms... all lyme like. I had itchy rash on face, back and chest which I thought was acne... nothing made it better. Hair falling out, night sweats, intolerance to alcohol, dizzy, confused, irritable... I finally got in under control with continued healthy organic diet and liver cleanse supplements, then got the bulls eye rash in June. Now, its a ride again... been on doxy for about a month.

I saw one study about FTA-ABS and lyme, thats it, which said it could cross react. Then there are a bunch that say it is only for syphilis.

Can anyone shed light? Thanks

Sorry, I forgot to add in the main area details of my lyme infection... current new bite in June 2015, just finishing 1 month of doxy.

I had an untreated bite in 1992 which caused years of health issues, in 2005 neurologist swore I had lyme and couldnt find it. I had a few years feeling ok until 3 years ago when they gave me IM penicillin by mistake for what they thought was syphilis, it was not, all other tests were negative for syphilis. Since the penicillin, I have had many health issues again that I listed in first post... and in doing research for this new lyme confirmed infection, think my neurologist in 2005 was right and I had an untreated infection for many years... and the past 3 years were relapse from insufficient treatment...

Reasons I am asking about FTA-ABS:
After 2 IM shots of 2.4 million units penicillin, I felt amazing and then wow... hit over the side of the head with symptoms a month later.

Then, this new infection, major EM bulls eye rash... doc didnt even blink, he knew what it was right away... fastest er visit ever!

I guess it is water under the bridge at this point and its just out of curiosity that maybe in being accidentally treated for one thing I didnt have, it started to help the infection I did have all along... LYME.

99% accuracy using the FT-Abs test for syphillis. The 1% false positive are only due to autoimmune disorders. Lyme has never shown to produce a false positive FT-abs test. Now the vdrl test, that's a whole nother ballgame and I'm glad it isn't used as much anymore.
