Big infected abscess and cyst on back!

I have a big old cyst on my back that has become infected. Doctor said I had to take Keflex, or I could get septic. I am running a low-grade fever.

I have a history of C. Diff.

I'm scared.

I would also like to know if Keflex will cause a herx. It isn't typically used to treat Lyme, so I figure it won't make me herx? Or does any abx cause a herx?

I am really tired, plus on top of everything else, one of the neighbors was a complete ahole last night, and I am flabbergasted.

So sick of all this. Feeling battle weary.

The good thing is that my oncologist got me a counselor, and I can see her free through the cancer center.

Are they putting you to sleep to get it fixed up??

((HUGZ)) I am so sorry Margaret... that does sound rough. Keflex is a VERY good drug (first line, in many doctors' minds) for infections of the type you described. Sorry I haven't got the knowledge to answer your questions about the Herx. The Keflex should keep this infection under control til Tues when doc can lance and correct the problem. Will be thinking of you all w/e and o Tues as well, Hang in there- glad there is a coundsellor avail to you, as well.
