LLND appt. today. After 2 1/2 month antibiotic break, i starte Minocycline a few weeks ago.

Started at 100 mg daily, and am not on 200 mg daily. I pushed for mino, as I hadn't been on it, and wanted to try it...

So, my LLND has prescribed Rifampin. Starting at 300 mg daily for two weeks (if today's liver enzymes still show they're back down and if i'm finished herxing from the mino)

Then do liver enzyme testing again - if still good, raise Rifampin to 300 mg twice daily.

Anybody do that combo with good results?

Rifampin is the only drug that I've seen that when on 600mg a day it's taken all at the same time.
I caught that I was taking it wrong from posts on here and re-read my instructions. I have no idea why but it's definitely the case.
Rifampin is tough but taking it twice a day or all at once didn't seem to make a difference.

Why is it tough? Side effects?

Good luck..hope it works out for you...how long do you suspect you will be on this combo (3 months?)??? Do you take any herbs/tinctures with this?

jrpsf - I checked my notes...and it does say twice daily. I will check and see if he emailed me the notes from the appointment and see what it says.

I know it doesn't have a long half -life - I think it's about 3 hours....that might be his reason for twice daily...

I have read some forum posts where some people have taken it twice daily...but maybe that's not what is currently done.

Hoping others will chime in.

daddy - I don't know how long I will be on the combo - Dr. C. did say that I should see some improvement within several weeks...hope he's right!
I am not taking the herbal protocol for Bart anymore - it was discontinued when I went off antibiotics due to rising liver enzymes...don't know if I will be starting them again... At this point, I'm not...

bumping up - I'm wondering about the twice daily rifampin....anyone else do twice daily...and get good results?

I'm also wondering if i should split the tablet and start with 150 mg....how was it for you?

Rifampin 150 my twice daily and then increase to 300 mg after 2weeks if I tolerated the 150 mg.

Yep, the mino/plaq/rif combo took me from a 50% plateau to 80% well after four months. Unfortunately I relapsed last May after stopping ABX maybe too soon.

I jumped right into full dose both times I took rif, but it's not a bad idea to do 1/2 dose for your first 4 or 5 days.

I'm up to 3 weeks now on Cipro (knock on wood) and last Friday added mino.
The last few days have been a challenge with extreme fatigue. I just ordered a bottle of CSA blend to take after my Crypto is empty, and J. Knotweed from Woodland that I haven't used in a few years.

Summer - did you get to 300 mg twice daily? Are you still on it?

Tickbite - Was that your first attempt at hitting bart - when you went from 50-80%? How long after reaching the 80% did you stop the Antibiotics?
Any changes yet with the Cipro?


I just can't decide whether to do 300 mg twice daily (LLND's instructions)...or 600 mg once.

It was my 2nd round of Rif about 3.75 years into treatment that I had good gains. I weaned off ABX only last April, a little over a year after hitting the 80 - 85% plateau.

The cipro hasn't done much yet, but adding the mino has caused minor herx over past few days.

stay with LLNDs twice a day Rx.

Hi Girlie,

I was on Rifampicine, 600mg once daily (2x 300mg tablets at once), 30 mins before breakfast.
So was my sister.

Dr Berghoff (German LLMD) also recommends 600mg daily, not indicated that it has to be taken in 2 doses.

So, it seems like it's 50/50 - I wonder what is easier on the liver - slamming it once with a double dose...or twice a day with a single dose....

Afiya,

First two months were combined with Tetralysal, after that combined with Azythromycine for 2 months again.

It didn't make me feel better, but I have old infections... It was followed by more abx, then by 15 months of samento/banderol/cumanda. Meanwhile, I noticed that my footpain and joint pain are better, but meanwhile the Lyme came out more now.
