On Beyond Balance MC BB-1 drops - but Lyme symptoms returning

Hi I was wondering what other people's experience with BB-1 drops have been?

A little history: I was previously taking Cat's Claw and Banderol (15 drops/day) for about 5 months, but new symptoms related to the heart appeared, i.e., chest pain, arrhythmia, breathing issues (all of these would come and go). After complete work-ups with a Cardiologist and Pulmonary doc, they only found the arrhythmia and everything else looks good.

So my doc told me to stop the CC and Banderol and switch to the BB-1 drops. I began taking the drops 3 weeks ago - starting w/ 1 drop bid and adding a drop every other day. I've had some herxing but have been trying to stay on top of it with detoxing and it hasn't been too bad.

However now going on week 4, some of my original Lyme symptoms have returned - I have involuntary muscle spasms in my hand and the feeling of losing my balance and sharp pains in my head (once in a while).

I'm just wondering what others have experienced with the BB-1 drops. It just seems like I'm going backwards in treatment instead of forward. I'm sticking with it for now because eventually I should be up to 20 drops/bid and am only a little over half way there.

Tick bites twice, in March and Aug 2013. Self-diagnosed a year later in Sep 2014. Found a Lyme-friendly doc. Western Blot only positive on 1 band 41KD (IGG), Mycoplasma Pneumoniae (IGG, IGM) 1.83. Most other results normal in 2014. Did 3 months of Amoxicllin, followed by several months of Cat's Claw and Banderol. Now on BB-1 drops.

I'm on the same stuff! I'm also on a lot of other medications so I'm not sure if it's directly from the drops but I also have experienced an increase in old symptoms.

I think they do work and stir stuff up. I'd assume that's why we get increased symptoms. I've been taking them for 5 weeks and got to 5 drops but had to go back down to 4 lately. So don't feel discouraged that you can't reach 20 yet. It's therapeutic still, and taking your time is a better option anyway.

IHL - Thank you - reading that really helps. I'm up to 11 drops, twice/day now so maybe these "old" symptoms are just part of the herxing process? In any case yes, I'll hang in there and will be seeing a new doctor closer to where I live next month.

I'll cut back a few drops instead of adding another tomorrow and see if that helps. I'm also taking Parsley drops, alternating with Burbur, Pinella and Turmeric as well as getting more exercise for detox. I was recommended the B.B. brand of Tox-Ease, but I couldn't see paying the money when I have so many detox products already in my vitamin cabinet :-)

I've experienced that with a couple of protocols now. Temporary healing, relief, then a resurgence of symptoms, anywhere from a couple weeks to a few months later.

Now, I've seen it said by some that these infections don't adapt to herbal treatments as they would with ABX, which is likely true. Different chemicals, reactions, processes, all that stuff, which I'm honestly too dim to know much about.

THOUGH, to say that they don't adapt to them at all, I feel like THAT would be incorrect, at least when trying to apply it everybody's case. Sure, some may be lucky enough to be on the same products for months and months on end, seeing gradual improvement all the while, but that definitely hasn't been my experience, and I'm certain others would chime in with similar experiences, if they were to happen across this thread.

That said, when it comes to me, whether it's entirely due to the antimicrobials, the stuff that kills Lyme/co, simply put, or lack of proper supplementation, what have you, I don't know. But, I do know that things aren't functioning as they're supposed to. I know that it's definitely a bad thing.

For you, I mean, that might not be the reality of the situation. It could be herxing, flares, new pockets of infection being stirred up, any number of the things that happen when trying to treat, things that signify progress, even if they're not exactly you progressing. I've heard a phrase something along the lines of ___ blank steps forward, ____ steps back.

But, yeah, I wouldn't write off possibly needing to be pulsing different methods altogether, especially considering that you've noticed these periods of gain, then loss, then gain with at least two different regimens now.

Me, I feel like I'd be seeing a steady regain of health, if I could afford to cycle multiple protocols at once.

Thank you for your response. Yes, there are so many theories out there. One never seems to know whether the symptoms reappear due to successful treatment and herx reactions, or whether they are not working and the Lyme bacteria are getting stronger and multiplying (an image that comes to mind sometimes).
But perhaps like you said .... x steps backward, x steps forward might be the case. I will let the herbals do their work and slow down on the the dosage to see if that helps. Perhaps the new doc that I'll be seeing next month will add more herbals to the "cocktail".

Yeah, just keep doing what you need to, paying close attention, working with your doctor(s), all that good stuff. You can do it.

My daughter was on many of the beyond balance products over the years. They really helped. But we always on detox products during that time. Beyond balance has many good ones you can read about on their website. We really like clarity K and clarity K detox. Taken together. Another good product is jerinagan detox can't remember name. Sauna and we use biomat

Well, according to Buhner - a Master Herbalist - and my Doc that helped me heal - also a Master Herablist - they have both said that bacteria don't develop resistance to herbs except in rare instances. I don't have any writings I can share from my Doc, but here are two references to Buhner's:

So can it happen? Yes, but only rarely.

Something we do have to understand is that as we heal from these infections, sometimes it's not a resistance really, but we still have to switch up our treatments. Sometimes it's needing to switch to treating a different infection, sometimes it's that we need a different protocol because of the strains of bacteria that we have will only be treated so far with the protocol that we are currently using.

That's why there are so many different protocols - we each have unique needs. I was lucky in that the one protocol that I used for each of my infections was enough to completely heal me, but more often people have to switch things up.

And never discount the need to detox!! The Lyme bacteria especially puts off toxins as it dies, adding to our already high toxin loads in our body. That's why we tell everyone to detox so much! If you aren't doing much to help you body rid itself of toxins, you will feel a LOT worse, and it will almost certainly slow your healing.

Oh, well, I'm afraid that hasn't been my experience, and I'm willing to stake a wager that I'm not the only one, so I dunno about that. Again, sure, I could be wrong - it could be written off as something else, a combination of things, some of what you mentioned, but, you know, that's not what I'm feeling, sorry.

I've tried all these products, for a number of different infections, kept my protocols relatively controlled, not changing up a whole lot, and, in the beginning, saw progress. Things worked. Then, they didn't. I'd changed nothing. Supplements, detox, etc. No reason to explain the lack of productivity, other than the "hey, maybe they've grown used to whatever's in these herbs?"

I'm not a doctor, researcher. I don't know for sure. But, that's what I'm feeling, so I'm gonna with it.

Though, I'd like to say, I know he and others like him have poured a lot of time into all this stuff, researching, all that, and that they genuinely care about, to make it simple, helping us. For many, they do just that, they help, and in a multitude of ways. Heck, he's helped me - maybe not in terms of his protocols showing me the results I'd hoped, but still, he's helped. I can appreciate that, him, all of 'um.

But, in terms of this little piece of the puzzle, I don't know if it's safe to draw assumptions and bunch everybody together by saying something like that. "These herbs will work 100% for you, considering you have the infections they target, for 100% of the time you're taking them, considering that everything else in your approach is up to shape. These complex illnesses that the leading Lyme/co-related researchers tout as being so adaptable, so sly, covert, seeping into every part of the body, there's no way they could ever adapt to the presence of these herbs."

Granted, he did back it up by saying how complex herbals are compared to abx, which is true, but still. How can he know that resistance doesn't occur for certain in every case, based on that?

Eh.

Everybody's different, right? I've had that line thrown at me quite a bit, dealing with this stuff. Why does it not apply here? Why just rarely?

Thanks - that's good to know that about the other detox products from Beyond Balance and that they've worked well for your daughter. It's encouraging!

Thank you for the good information and the references. Interesting. I haven't had very thorough testing done yet, as my Lyme-friendly doc is a 4-hour drive away and I've only seen her twice. She ordered the W.Blot and a CD57 as well as the MTHFR test, but said more importantly at that point, I needed to get started on abx and treat the symptoms rather than spend a lot of money on tests that would not change the initial course of treatment.

But now, since I haven't seen her in 9 months I think it's time to re-evaluate, especially with new and old symptoms popping up. (Her recommendation to switch to BB-1 was via brief e-mail exchanges- she's very nice about that)

In any case, I will pay more attention to the detoxing as you've recommended and I've read so much about here in the forum.

Right now I've noticed that it helps to take Parsley drops and Curcurmin after the BB-1 drops. Burbur sometimes causes strange feelings in my neck and head, but it could be something else doing this, who knows. Also am including fresh ginger, parsley, dandelion in my smoothies and getting more exercise.

The symptoms are not debilitating, but they are troubling and remind me daily that those spirochetes are alive and well!
