Looking for an LLMD near Toronto...thank you :)

Hello,

I was treated for 2 years by Dr. B. for Lyme and co-infections (+ igenix and positive Ontario Elissa test). I ended treatment in 2009 and have been mainly symptom free since until these past few months. I realize Dr.B no longer provides Lyme treatment. My family Dr. who was instrumental and supportive in helping me get treatment retired last year. Can anyone suggest a Dr. in the GTA who is willing to possible treat Lyme or at least test for it ?

Hey jellybean22, I would try adding a title to your post that says something along the lines of "Looking for an LLMD near...". Good luck.

Sorry to hear you think Lyme might be back.

My LLMD told me that once we have Lyme, subsequent antibody tests are not useful to confirm an active infection due to the bacteria's effects on the immune system.

As mentioned on the CDC website, Lyme is a clinical diagnosis - based upon symptoms.

That said, I'd take those old results and a list of current symptoms to present to the LLMD you'll be meeting.

Hello and thank you for the responses! The GTA refers to the Greater Toronto Area as I am located in Ontario.

Thanks cd3764...A doctor at my local walk in clinic a few months ago refered me to an infectious disease specialist in Toronto based on my previous positive test result and symptoms and he refused to take me as a patient...something along the lines of "regretfully we do not treat these cases".

I'm having a difficult time finding an LLMD or even a doctor open minded enough to consider the possibility that I have Lyme despite having a positive test result in the past. One doctor even said my previous test result must have been a false positive???

Any help on finding an LLMD or other practitioner would be greatly appreciated

This is what you need to do (or start another thread titled like that) if you'd like people to suggest LLMD's.

Oh, there is no such thing as a false positive with a patient is presenting with symptoms. Sorry to say, that doctor is obviously clueless about Lyme....as most are :(

Jellybean- I have also been looking for a LLMD in Ontario(Peterborough) but the closest I've come is a local LLND or 2 other LLND's in Newmarket and Uxbridge. Let me know if you'd like to talk privately.

There is a LLND in Richmond Hill and an internist in downtown Toronto but I don't think he's a LLMD. Best of luck, I'm in the same boat as you :S
