I know first hand how frustrating this must be for your wife. I have gained about 50 pounds as well. I played pro beach volleyball and have been athletic and healthy all of my life. Even throughout my hardest times, I still mustered up the strength to do some type of light exercise, eat extremely well, and actually gained weight. This all started when I was diagnosed with Lyme.
It's been two years now, and I'm the heaviest I've ever been, but I'm finally feeling great and running again daily. Still not losing weight, and it's very difficult to see myself look like such a different person, and all of that extra weight feels horrible - but, I thank God I'm feeling great and just try to look at it as between the two, I'd rather feel good and function, than fit into my old clothes, at least for now.
I'm thinking about checking my leptin as well, just so I know.
