I think I may need to find a new LLMD in Utah. I have been going to a naturopath and I have been more than impressed with his knowledge but I don't feel like my Lyme is being treated aggressively enough. I have been treating it with enzymes, herbs (cats claw, grapefruit seed extract, knot weed etc) and 500 mg clarithromycin 400 mg amoxicillin per day for the past 3 months.
These are the same antibiotics that made me feel wonderful when I took much larger doses of them for H. Pylori. Anyway I never really felt that same good feeling with this lower dose. I did have some undeniable herx reactions like rashes when I first started but no improvements in GI symptoms or fatigue like last time.
When I began treatment I was told this was going to be a starting dose and then we would either up the dose or change the type of antibiotic. Now after my last appointment he wants me take a 3 week break and thinks that I have yeast because my GI symptoms have never gotten better.
Now I am on a yeast cleanse and I'm not to excited about it. I have done this before for a month with diet and diflucan with absolutely no results, nothing changed at all! This time he wants to try powdered nystatin, see how I feel and talk about if I need to be on antibiotics?
With two days of yeast diet and no antibiotics my left knee was randomly painful yesterday (I never get knee pain and I didn't injure it), I can't sleep at all, guts are acting up, feeling more ocd, feeling depressed and muscles are getting twitchy again. It very well could be yeast and a herx but if my past response is anything to go off of I am pretty sure it is Lyme or a co-infection. It's like every Dr. I go too I have to prove to them that it is not yeast. You know what worked really good in the past are heaps of intracellular antibiotics.
I will do the cleanse but I don't like the idea of no more antibiotics as they are the only thing that have ever made me feel better. So if you guys have any recommendations for a good LLMD in Utah let me know. Hopefully they are affordable too I am running out of money and accumulating dept with all of this treatment not to mention my wife is now starting to show many Lyme symptoms as well and we need to start getting her treated.
