Can Lyme Disease cause Spikes in the Brain?

Ok, I am overwhelmed here. I am trying to help so many people, and now my daughter's Godmother calls and tells me that her 12 yr old daughter just had a seizure the other day. Just like that. Out of nowhere. Never had any issues before, and is a very healthy eating child - gluten free, sugar free, dairy free, bc she does have allergies/food sensitivities.

She is seeing a neurologist tmrw.

I was sitting here thinking, what on earth could this be? Now I am not at all assuming that everyone who has a weird symptom that comes out of nowhere may have lyme - but this friend of mine emailed me about 1.5 months ago freaking out because she found 4 ticks on her daughter after she had gone to a state park with some friends. She said they were not embedded and she took them off. That was the end of it. Lives out East on Long Island (not the best place if you want to avoid ticks!).

So, I know for a fact that lyme can cause seizures, esp. in kids, but my question is - how does it cause seizures? bc this 12 yo girl had an EEG done and it showed spikes in her brain. Does this rule lyme out? or can lyme indeed cause spikes in the brain? I will definitely be doing research on this, but wanted to throw out the question on here incase anyone is familiar with all of this. Thanks a million!!!

I don't think that anyone can say exactly what is going on, but at her age, she is more than likely just starting to produce reproductive hormones. These hormones are notorious with lowering one's seizure threshold. We all have a threshold at which we will have a seizure and hormones are one of the things that lowers it. Wellbutrin and other medications can do the same. Darvocet was really bad at it.

There are so many different types of seizures that it is hard to pinpoint exactly what is going on from a brief description. Dehydration can increase seizure activity, physical abnormality can increase seizure activity, and lack of sleep can increase seizure activity. I fully believe that the methylation pathway plays a huge role as an increase in free radicals increases abnormal electrical conduction. Aluminum is really bad about causing electrical abnormalities. This is just a short summary, there are a lot of things that can be at fault when dealing with seizures. I've had to learn the hard way, but at least I learned. My daughter has been seizure free for 10 years now.

30% of normal people have abnormal EEG's, so it's not that uncommon.

Chappell, I had seizures (& blackouts) from Lyme. I had just stopped seeing my LLMD because I had just started having seizures and he didn't want to change anything. I was really very scared as it was rarely seen from what anyone could tell me. I stopped treatment, and have assumed it was due to toxin build up in my body.

I started detoxing for the first time and had a ton of days for herxing for each thing I tried to add in to my detoxing routine, it literally took me a month to introduce anew detoxing method successfully. So that kind of supported the idea that my seizures and black out were due to the amount of toxins I had stored up inside.

After taking literally 2 years to find a doctor that would help me try to heal and detox, but when I started with my new doc, she had me detox for yet another 6 months, with her help of course, before I finally wore her down far enough to let me get started with treating my infections.

Yet another thing that supports the thought that my seizures and black outs were caused by the amount of toxins in my body is that one treatments started, I healed incredibly fast. I had forty year old infections completely healed with 2 years of treatments. Not to mention I have no trace of blackouts or seizures since.
