Does Lyme surface later in life after possible early infection?

I was bitten way back in 2007 by what may have been a tick. Did not have the classic rash but had mild fever & headache. Local doctors ruled negative. Igenex ruled positive. I went to an LLD but because I had just recovered from 8 months of CDiff, antibiotics were ruled out. Instead I was on a course of herbals & homeopathics which did very well for me.

Now it is 8 years later & something is wrong with me. I am VERY tired all the time, have a mild headache, often feel lightheaded & wobbly/dizzy. Have had very recent blood tests & all systems are fine. No anemia, no hypoglycemia, no too low BP I have no appetite & all I want to do is lie around. I am just wiped out.

I am just wondering what the current thoughts are on Lyme going underground initially & then resurfacing in later years.

Welcome to our community!! Actually with a positive Lyme test, we have to suspect either a relapse or that what you use wasn't effective for you.

Maybe you can tell us a bit more about your previous treatment? What was the protocol you used? Did you start out with symptoms that you could track? How long did your treatments last - was it at least 2 months past the resolution of your symptoms and then they came back?

Relapse happen for a number of reasons. First and foremost, we have to understand that we have no way of knowing when we have truly had enough treatment. We guess by saying continue treatments for 2 months past the resolution of symptoms, because that seems to get most people healed - but it never rules out relapses. I still watch closely for them, myself.

A reinfection could have also occurred. More than ticks carry Lyme and other infections - mosquitoes, biting flies of all types (horse, deer, sand, etc), even spiders and ants now!!

It might be a good idea for you to restart herbal treatments to see if that helps.
