Trav- Armour just doesnt absorb like it used to, specifically the T4 in it. Its just not as optimal as it used to be. You have to chew it to dissolve and it takes around 15 minutes if I remember right. And only people that took both formulations would notice it symptom -wise. You need both to compare. Old armour and the newer NP also disolve quicker in your mouth without chewing.
As far as physical evidence from lab tests, the ft3 and ft4 lab levels on post 2009 Armour are spaced wider apart than they were on the older version. So some people add a little synthetic t4 to get ft4 levels off the "floor" - but that only makes sense if you also feel better from this.
Any natural thyroid will give you low ft4 vs a higher ft3 , pig ratios are just a little different than humans. The NP brand is just not spaced apart that far apart in your body because the t4 absorbs better in it, bringing the level up a little more.
Thank you, Astro. I'm a new comer to thyroid meds (on them 1.5 yrs), so I wouldn't know the difference.
I'm having a great deal of difficulty in understanding what symptoms are from thyroid and what's from adrenal issues. I take my Armour sublingually, but I do break it in half or quarters first, as I can't stand to have something under my tongue for long periods! LOL!
