Hello Everyone!
I suspect being infected with Lyme 2 months ago during a trip. I'm currently waiting for Western Blot results from my PCP.

I want to go a step ahead and start looking for a LLMD, preferably in San Francisco. I know most of them don't accept insurance, but it would be great if I find one.

Also, what can I do to take care of myself in the meantime? I know the waiting times could be extremely long and I'm worried that time is passing and I'm not being treated.

Any suggestions would be appreciated!

What lab was the Western Blot done at? Igenex lab in California is the best place - better chances of having a positive if you have Lyme disease.

In the mean time, you could read through the "New to Lyme?..Start Here!" thread at the top of the page. It's got lots of good information. To help prep your body for treatment, you could start developing good detoxing habits. There are suggestions in the thread I mentioned. You will need to do several methods - you can start with a couple, and keep building on them. Also, get some good probiotics and start taking them.


Did you have a bulls eye rash...or known tick bite, along with symptoms? If so, will your pcp give you some antibiotics to take until your LLMD appt?

Litel-I'm in San Jose. I can email you a list of LLMD's and LLND's in the Bay Area. They all practice in or near to San Francisco.

I'm glad you answered!

I didn't find a bull's eye rash, but I found a tick on my bed and my stomach felt itchy around those days. I suddenly felt terrible cramps on my legs and constant headaches.

These symptoms went away for a couple weeks, and came back, plus many neurological symptoms. My doctor sent my tests to Quest Diagnostics.

I have a follow-up appointment on Monday, I can ask for the Igenex test and some antibiotics.

Quest us unfortunately the worst when it comes to testing for Lyme so don't expect much.

That shows what a difference a few weeks on antibiotics and testing with a lab that knows how to test for Lyme. Igenex is near Stanford.
