Hi Rikky, I've got a yeast throat thing going on right now, too, and so very much want to get rid of it. Actually, it STARTED when I did a course of nystatin pills. My understanding is that the nystatin stirred up the major yeast problem in my stomach and made the infection rise up into my throat and mouth. I believe that nystatin pills are prescribed very much to treat yeast problems in the stomach/gut, so it's not a problem per se that it doesn't operate elsewhere (unless your infection is elsewhere and then yeah you'd need Diflucan or another systemic anti-yeast med, or if it's a throat/mouth infection more or a suspension type option that you describe). Many people are wary of the liquid nystatin because it has a lot of sugar in it.. Which is very not good for yeast, lyme, etc. The pure nystatin powder, available compounded only, is the best nystatin option. That said, I can't tolerate any nystatin cause I get too much die-off. I was thinking of trying clotrimazole because I believe it has sorbitol but not so much straight up sugar as the nystatin liquid. Hope this helps!
