The lab results for our 16 year old daughter came back positive for Lyme, mycoplasma pneumoniae and streptozyme. We believe she has had some of this for years. She also has two copies of the c677T mutation of the MTHFR gene. Her symptoms are widespread and varied.

We had the testing done through a neurologist who I believe is newer to this. He prescribed methyl b-12 shots, antibiotics with activated charcoal. After 4 days, we had to take her off the antibiotics because she was vomiting, had diarrhea and couldn't eat. Three days later she is slowly feeling better. It didn't occur to me how hard this treatment would hit her because of her MTHFR issues.

We need to find a doctor who has been down this path many times and can help minimize the side effects. I live very close to Dr. M in Keego but my own physician is not a fan. I have an appointment for Dr. L in Saginaw but that is not until March. We can't wait that long to treat her.

Does anybody have any suggestions for a physician, preferably in Oakland County? What is the consensus on Dr. M? It would be great to have someone that participates with insurance. She saw a naturalpath, Dr. Q. (think Medicine Woman) before we got the diagnosis. I can go back to her but not sure that she's deep on the topic of Lyme.

You can email the Tick-Borne Disease Alliance at

You can go to The Lyme Disease Association and search for LLMD's 3 times in a month. You have to register first. Here is the link:

​ If your daughter started all her meds close to the same time, it's likely that she herxed very hard and is only just now recovering from that. She needs to be detoxing quite a bit since she has those gene mutations that are making it hard for her body to get rid of those toxins.

You can always start her on an herbal protocol while you wait to get her in to see the LLMD of your choice. There are a couple that are effective and reasonable to start and they won't interfere with her abx if that's what you choose to use when you see the LLMD.

I am new to the board but saw your plea for a doctor in SE Michigan. There is a doctor in Flint who might be able to help. His name is Dr. N. Also the Byron White formulas are helpful as long as you do the detox supportive remedies with the pathogen remedies. So many comments on the Byron White remedies are negative or talking about the intense herx response. He ALWAYS tells practitioners to use these and sadly so many do not listen and cause their clients more distress. Good Luck!

Welcome to our community!

I'm so sorry, but we don't post doctors names here for a number of reasons, the most important one being an effort to protect the doctors that treat us, as they are still being persecuted.

And thank you for your comments on the Byron White products. I hope that you will come back and tell us about your experience with the Byron White products.
