i know plenty about
antibiotic therapy, but not much about
the lyme herb protocols out there. Its a good time for me to learn! question, my daughter's Dr is not very familiar with the protocols, he is lyme literate, but treats with antibiotics herbs and vitamins.
here is my question, if i decide to go with buhner's protocol for my daughter - can she be on antibiotics at the same time or no? i wanted to start doxy again in december bc it will be the dead of winter, but i want her to take something until then - not sure if i should just do some herbs or do a protocol for a month and then do the antibiotics...he just wants her on AL complex, but to me that is not enough..... - thoughts? thanks.

All of Buhner's herbs can be taken at the same time as abx.
No matter what, I hope you'll consider Japanese Knotweed for your daughter. It's highly anti-inflammatory and crosses the blood/brain barrier quite easily. It can "extend the reach" of abx/herbs.
I highly recommended reading Buhner's books since he explains the infection and disease processes as well as everything you'd ever want to know (and then some :) about
the herbs themselves.
He also lists sources for the herbs since not all herbs are prepared equally. And, there's even lists of herbalists that often work via Skype or phone consults.
Best of luck to you!

Not much to add to cd's comments. I am impressed with Buhner. The research he has done on so many herbs to support our bodies while treating with the 'core' herbs...is impressive.

Buhner's seems to work for most people, although I surely wouldn't combine it with A-L complex. Many find that the Byron White product produce a very strong herx early on.

yes, thanks traveler, i am not a fan of al complex. i gave it to my kids two years ago, but im not crazy about
it now. the pediatric Dr is good, but he is not ilads certified, there doesnt seem to be one in the area - he is definitely
open to all of this though. i guess i have to decide - do doxy and possibly another antibiotic (zithromax) to combat lyme and bart from dec thru february, and then do Buhner's or use Buhner's and the antibiotics both at the same time and start buhner's now and doxy in december.....

I would encourage you to do both. I've seen what I consider to be an amazing number of people use abx or Cowdens (sorry all, but it's the truth), and then start on Buhner's and herx! CD was one of them.
And since Buhner himself said that it's safe to do both abx and his protocol, it makes sense that if you wish to use abx, then still do Buhner's.

awesome, decision made. Thanks everyone!!!
I will scratch AL complex idea, and commence Buhner's asap....Just as a newbie with the protocol, what is the best website that has all the info on it, so i can figure out my daughter's dosage and sources for the herbs. is it the one Cd mentioned? thanks!!

Go straight to the source:
buhnerhealinglyme.com/the-protocols/
and I would encourage you to consider buying his books if you can - they are packed with more information.

For whatever it's worth, Buhner's site hasn't been updated in years.
His books have his latest-greatest protocols....and they are really worth the investment. (they're not all that expensive, either).
I cannot say enough about
the herbs he recommends for specific symptoms. Truly, winning the battle against these infections isn't just about
killing the bugs....it's about
reducing inflammation, rebuilding the organs under attack and supporting the immune system.
And, yes, I've herxed more on Buhner's herbs (and I'm only up to 8 drops each of his Babesia and Bartonella herbs) than I did on abx and almost 6 months on the full Cowden protocol.
My ILADS-trained LLMD discouraged me from using herbs when I was on abx. After all I've learned, I very much regret not taking at least Japanese Knotweed at the same time as the abx....and I told him so during my appointment with him earlier this month. I hope he learns from my experience.
