This was on my local news last night as the company is local.

A couple of things that stood out

-the FDA asked us to pause” after concerns that 23andMe couldn’t properly validate the information people were getting.

-if you’ve done the test previously, your results will be updated.

I never took the test so I'm not sure if you will get the updated results by mail or if you can login to your account. Just an fyi

The issue with the FDA did not stop them from doing testing. They continued to run the saliva testing, but they only reported the SNPs that showed in your saliva.

What they had to stop doing was interpreting the results. They had previously been telling people that had risk factors for this or that but the conclusions were based on unsubstantiated claims. I remember one of the things they reported was if you had the genetic component of Fibromyalgia, but the data they used to make the conclusion had come from non-peer reviewed academic papers and the data backing the study's conclusion was suspect.

There are other companies that were allowed to interpret the data like Livewello and that data has been used by forum members to determine if they have genetic evidence that their body has problems with detoxing for example.

This means that now we may have one stop shopping - both the data and the interpretation. It will be interesting to see if the Livewello results and 23andme results match.

From what I remember about others posting about this is that you will get different interpretations from different sites, but I don't remember if they were saying that some sites interpret different SNP's or if the same ones had different results depending on which site you visited.

I say check all the sites you can and compare the answers you get. That's the best way to go until someone can explain how to know which site is most accurate.
