Bronchitis and recurring Lyme disease

I recently was told by my GP that I had a very high Lyme antibody count. I was infected with the disease about 5 years ago and treated for it. (I had the characteristic rash and live in an area in the northeast where the disease is very common.) I know that once infected, I'd have the antibodies in my blood whenever tested.

I have been dealing with bronchitis for about a week and wondered if there is any connection between it and a reinfection of Lyme. My doctor wants me to see an infectious disease specialist about the high antibody count that I have yet to do. Thanks.

Sorry no one has posted just yet on your thread. The forum has been quite busy today and I'm just getting on it for the first time.

Truly, if you consult with any type of doctor about your high Lyme antibody count, you'd be better served by a LLMD (Lyme literate MD) and not an infectious disease doctor. Unfortunately, ID doctors haven't received the proper training to evaluate people in situations such as yours. We can help you find a LLMD if you're interested but I suspect an answer to your question needs to happen first.

And, since I don't know the answer to your question, at least my post will get you a bump :)

Howdy jimgee. I can tell you that lyme suppresses your immune system and you are susceptible to any and every bug that comes your way.

I so agree with CD 3764 and think your best course of action is to get with a LLMD (Lyme Literate Medical Doctor) and let him figure out what is the best course of action.

Personally, I am thinking a dose of antibiotic, LOTS of fluids and bed rest.

You need to get rid of the Bronchitis (the easy one) and then deal with the lyme (not so easy). JMO.
