Hi everyone,

If any of you have beat Lyme with abx will you please post?
I am hitting a real low, having treated for almost a year and hardly improved at all.
for the first 6 months i could barely tolerate anything. I started with Doxy 100 mg twice daily, then tried to add Amox - horrible headaches, muscle spasms had to discontinue - then tried adding biaxin, same thing.
I tried to detox as much as possible, just taking doxy and GSE. improved some.
Then all hell broke loose in july, with seizure like episodes (though awake) and horrific headaches.
Ended up in ER with morphine drip and wheel chair to the airport (on vacation)

After 2 months of MFTHR support, more detox, and Cowden herbs i can now tolerate IV Rocephin and Tindamax - barely.
But i herx with muscle spasms and headaches.
AND I DONT SEEM TO IMPROVE???

How do you know if you are actually improving? How long will it take on the IV ROcephin/TIndamax (and Cowden) to see real improvement? I know most of you cant tell me, but those of you who know someone who has beaten lyme on abx - Please tell me, I am feeling so low and broken..

While I have accumulated links to many success stories, I must admit that those who used abx also took herbs.

Please know that it can take a very long while to improve. Your bug load must be lowered and resultant toxins eliminated before you'll experience improvements.

I could tell I was improving because my constant symptoms decreased in number and severity....and things continued along that way until the point I'm at now (98%).

No matter what you're doing for detox - it's clear to me that you need to detox more. It's your only chance at feeling improvements sooner rather than later.

Treating Lyme and Co's really requires a patient patient. It's certainly not for the faint-hearted but at least you know you can regain your health.

I know someone who did heal on antibiotics - she did support supplements but not herbs to treat the infection.

She started treatment 7 or 8 months after symptoms started and treated for 7 months.

She has been symptom free for about a year and a half so far (if I'm remembering correctly)

I also know someone who has been treating with both antibiotics and herbals for over three years and has been at about 90-95% better.

As far as determining if you are getting better - it hasn't been easy for me because I have/had many symptoms - I can't remember how many exactly but approx 30-40. So, I have to look at my symptom chart - to see that some were getting better gradually - couldn't see it unless I looked back several months. (I rate the symptoms from 0 to 10) My improvements are very slow - it's not like I wake up one morning and one is gone.

But day to day or week to week I couldn't see it or feel it. I have to think back a couple months and remember how it used to be.

Also some of my worst symptoms aren't improving, but other ones have. (I can handle the joint pain, muscle pain, but the nerve pain is horrible). So I don't really 'feel' better. - if that makes sense.

Also I gained some new symptoms after starting treatment (great!)

Having said all that - I have been feeling a 'change' the past few days...I shouldn't get my hopes up .... But I am optimistic that I might be 'turning the corner'....finally -

And go back and read your post - proof you have improved is right there!! You can now tolerate IV meds!

And you've only been on a treatment you can tolerate for 2 months now, so that's really good improvements. We have to be in this for the long haul, it's definitely a marathon and not a sprint!

I agree, some form of symptom chart really helps us keep our sanity at times like these.
