Is these what bart scratches look like? Seeing an LLMD on Friday and just want to be as prepared as possible and properly prioritize my time with him.

Something Dr. H. said - 80% of his patients get better in one month of treating Bartonella.
If they're not responding to one treatment - try another. Rotate them.

So, why aren't most of us getting better in one month? Are our Dr.'s keeping us on one regimen too long for Bart?

Wow, interesting question Girlie! I have to "subscribe to this thread" because I want to see what others say too.

RhodeIslander, I have no idea if they are bart scratches or not, but if you have other bart symptoms they might be. I keep looking for bart scratches or rashes because I sure would like a confirmation that I have bart. Even though I have most of the symptoms on the list. I guess we all want visual proof, just like we wanted a test to say it was lyme.

My LLMD never kept me more than one month on one regimen, she always rotated them and she was doing 7 days break in between.

Interesting mpostelnicu - I have gotten symptom resolution - often it is after I've been on a regimen for over two months...

But, Horowitz seems to think it's best to rotate quickly.

How are you feeling mpostelnicu? Is it working well for you so far?

Peteza your comment raises an important question- what are the symptoms of Bart to distinguish it from Lyme? I have had pain/numbness/tingling in the soles of my feet early in the AM, is that unique to Bart?

Patients with bartonelliosis report more neurological symptoms and are more likely to have visited a neurologist than members of the general population. Some common symptoms include blurred vision, numbness in the extremities, memory loss, balance problems, headaches, ataxia (unsteady gait), and tremors. Bartonellosis also sometimes triggers psychiatric manifestations.

pain/numbness/tingling - sounds like neruo stuff to me = Bart

That is a strange place to have BART scratches.

They usually are in the love handle area.

Mine didn't even show till I started treatment now they are everywhere ( love handle, up spine, back of head, rib cage back and front )

My LLMD will keep you on a regimen as long as you are making improvements even slight. That says to him that the regimen is working. If you start regressing over a few weeks he'll mix it up as that 'cocktail' has run its course for now.

What's interesting is he's open to re-introducing the same regimen later on so that opens up even more treatment rotation options. For me when I first took Zithro/Mepron it didn't do much but I'm on it again and it's having much more effect. I attribute this to Lyme or something undetected hampering the effectiveness of the meds on the Babesia and only until I was able to get that bug load down could the effectiveness increase. This theory matches my experience.

Has anyone tried going back to the same regimen later on and having more success?

I have them on my love handles, but they're not red like some of what I've seen.

Plus, I was quite chubby as a kid, so I'm tempted to think that's the cause. I do have a lot of other Bart symptoms though, for sure.

The guy in that video, he mentioned the need to be alternating between different medications, and I always get the feeling I should have done that with the herbals I was on. But, I really don't know. Some people say it's unnecessary, which I'd like to believe. Herbs are too complex, compared to abx, it's said.

I just don't know. Hm.

What does "get better" really mean?

I've read that Bartonella can be challenging to clear....

Heck, I'm "better" but I know I'm still infected....

Many symptoms overlap but, sore feet early in the AM is hallmark for Bart.

In his book "Beating Lyme Disease", Bryan Rosner writes extensively about this. It's all about peeling back layers of the onion.

Even Buhner has in his protocols that you only take such and such herb for a month.
