Nystatin - when to take it?

My LLND prescribed Nystatin capsules to be taken twice daily.

Should it be on empty stomach..or with food?


I don't appear to have typical Candida symptoms, but since I've been on antibiotics for awhile now...he thought I should take it.
I don't have a white tongue, or diarrhea (no digestive problems), not itchy 'down there', no sore throat.
But, I read that some lyme symptoms could actually be Candida symptoms.

Should I also be taking Diflucan? If it's systemic, then the Nystatin won't be enough, right?

i don't even know if it will work - since it's not the pure powder.

It's more of a preventative therapy to keep you in balance. I take it most of the time except for when I take an occasional round of Diflucan. Two tablets am and again pm along with my abx and other supps.

The more pure powder form is better to help clear the mouth and throat is you have confirmed thrush sx, but it may also be more expensive.

Give it a try if it works within your budget.

I talked to the Pharmacist at our Compounding Pharmacy - about the pure powder - and she was perplexed - had never heard of it...and said that the amount of the nystatin in the caps - is tiny...and the rest is filler, she didn't see how it would even be possible to measure out the pure powder. I didn't have enough knowledge to explain it to her. I guess maybe the dose my LLND has prescribed (500,000 twice daily) is lower than what's usually prescribed?
