There are many "backwoods" people in lyme county that clearly dont get lyme.
I find this very interesting. You know they get ticks, must be a superior immune system these people have. But what part of it, and how can others boost theirs? Must be genetics. You can go broke with immune boosting supplements, that clearly do nothing for some people. I wish this was thoroughly studied, with shared results.
Rowingmom shared what compromises the immune system. We need to do the opposite ;)
Buhner writes that 1000mg Astragalus will elevate the parts of the immune system necessary to prevent these infections.....and the dose is to be increased to 3000mg during "high season".
He cautions about
possible autoimmune-type response in those with chronic Lyme. Starting slow and low is the way to go as always.
There *are* studies about
boosting immune function and the bulk of it happens in the gut.
That's why I eat as organic as possible and definitely avoid the Dirty Dozen. I plan on continuing with my daily home-made kefir for the rest of my life and will also continue the various mushrooms I've been taking for easily 7-8 years now (with the new addition of Chaga tea ;)
And, yes, I'm taking Astragalus - 500mg daily for now
