AZ or FL clinic more affordable?

Does anyone have any information regarding the differences in the COST of treatment of Lyme between the AZ clinic and the FL clinic? I am desperate for treatment but I cannot afford to pay $10,000 of thousands.

Sorry, but I don't have an answer for your question. Might I suggest you edit your thread to give it a "subject " title. Example: "question about AZ or FL clinic for Lyme treatment. "

If there is a question in the "subject " area, this will attract a person that might know the answer to your question.

Have you started or tried any treatment for Lyme? Have you seen a Lyme doctor (LLMD)?

Once again, I am sorry that I was unable to answer your question.

I hope once you edit you thread that you will get the answers you need.

Little Bear's suggestion - putting a title on the thread - is a good idea.

Because you are new to the forum, I'd like to point out the thread at the top of the page titled: "New to Lyme?..Start Here!" It's got a lot of great information - symptom lists, info on probiotics, detoxing suggestions and much more.

Keep checking back for responses.....people come on different times of the day.

No matter who might have the answers you seek, it might be better for you to call each clinic to get pricing.

A noted LLMD in my area treated an acquaintance of mine in 2013 and charged $600 for the first appointment and $300 for followups.

By the time I inquired for myself a year later, the cost of the first appointment had risen to $1000 and followups were $600. Too rich for my blood.

How about you tell us a little about yourself? There are other ways to treat besides going to clinics..

Hello and thank you! I live in Hot Springs, Arkansas. Diagnosed 1.5 years ago, took doxycycline 2.5 months but under-treated. about 2 months ago, became ill and could not figure out what was going on, until my PCP told me I have "chronic" Lymes. Again, antibiotics, but still am not getting any better.

if you restarted treatment after 1,5 years it means you have chronic lyme and treatment is expected to be long term, meaning you have to wait a few months before you see improvements.You need an LLMD to check out for coinfections, MTHFR gene and such and treat accordingly.

I do not know what those clinics do, but as I understood they do a shorter course of treatment that you have to continue at home.This is no way a quick fix.

Please explain a little about your symptoms.And ask help this way.

So relieved to have found people who understand and who have knowledge about this disease.
June, 2014, horribly sick, found someone in town who believed me when I said it was tick-borne. She tested - positive for Lyme, Erlichia, as well as West Nile virus. Doxycycline, 2.5 months. This past October - tingling in right hand, headache, general aches, fatigue. VA gave me 3 weeks of Doxy but no better. Back to PCP, she told me it is chronic Lyme, gave me 3 months of Doxy and said to take it along with an anti-inflammatory (Aleve). Now, 6-7 weeks on Doxy. Cloudiness in brain and terribly fatigued. For example, yesterday, felt very sick and just wanted to fall down. I am desperate for a solution. I know you all understand, because you've been there. Thank Goodness for that, although it's under unfortunate circumstances!

Summer-I did a little bit of research into the "stay at" clinics when I was newly diagnosed. I went to my LLND appointment with a small list of things that I felt were vital to my getting well and if he did not address them then I was going to go away for treatment. He did, so I didn't.

From what I've read since then (a year and a half) is that these clinics are very expensive. You typically stay at a nearby hotel and go in every day for treatment. I know that people have jump started their treatments by going to one of these centers but unless they were just infected treatment for 6-12 weeks is not going to get someone healthy.

In my opinion your money is much better spent finding a good Lyme Literate MD or ND and starting a treatment that works for you.

Our main moderator is also in Arkansas. Traveler should be able to provide you with the names of resources

Thanks! After reading more, from you all, and others, I believe that I am going to cancel the stay-at clinic. I do not have that kind of money, not many do. I think your advice to see a LLMD (what is a LLND?), is the best solution at this time.
I would certainly love to talk with Traveler in Arkansas. Traveler?

A ND is a Naturopathic Dr. In certain states they are highly regulated and therefore they are able to write prescriptions for all medications except for controlled substances. They are versed in conventional and holistic medicine which is helpful with Lyme since treatment often consists of both antibiotics and herbals.

summers17-It seems people get desperate & want to go to these $$$ clinics which you will easily spend tends of thousands. LD is not an inexpensive disease; however, you can find doctors, NPs or LLMDS that can help you with treatment. I've done a lot of investigating & for ME, the cons outweigh the pros with most of these clinics. Best of luck & keep us posted!

Thank you, Everyone for your responses. Just an FYI - I canceled the clinic and going the herbal route, according to Stephen Buhner. This has got to be one of the strangest illnesses in the world!
