Hi. I found a local family physician who treats for Lyme and takes my insurance (yeah) and we finally had some blood work done. My 13 year old daughter has been suffering from fatigue for about
2 years but got much worse about
4 months ago (bladder dysfunction, balance issues, limbs falling asleep, cognitive issues). We did electro-dermal screening (EDS) with a holistic practitioner and lyme and some co-infections came up.
The bloodwork was all done through Lab Corp so I don't necessarily believe the negative results, but the Western Blot was negative (only band 41 was present) and all co-infections (ELISA) were negative. Her Vitamin D was low, her TSH was a little high, her cortisol was a little high, and DHEA a little high. As far as infections, she had a high reading for anti-DNaseB (strep) and Mycoplasma pneumonia (IgG, not IgM).
Here Dr seemed unconcerned with the Mycoplasma but wanted to do Rocephin for the strep and (still) possible Lyme. He is only prescribing for a month which I think may be too short? He is willing to sign off on the Igenex test so I was going to order the 188/189 kits and test 2-3 weeks into the Rocephin and see if he would be willing to keep her on Rocephin until we at least have those results back.
What do you all think? I think it is a good start but I do think antibiotics may be needed longer. I am also still concerned about
co-infections but we may deal with those herbally in conjunction with EDS. Is 2-3 weeks of antibiotics long enough to then do the Igenex test and hope that the immune system is working enough that the antibodies will show? Should I be concerned about
the Mycoplasma?
I love this new doctor, he is so nice. But I want to be informed and know how to manage my daughter's case. She is sick of being sick and would really like a firm diagnosis but I know that can be hard to obtain. Thanks!
