What to expect while pulsing abx?

Hi,

DS, 14, is starting to pulse a combo of antibiotics this week 3 days a week and I've searched and haven't found much about what to expect while pulsing regarding symptoms/herxing. He is also taking a cyst buster for 2 days a week. For those who have pulsed, do you feel the worst on the days you take the drugs or the day after? Worse after the cyst buster? I know this is all highly variable from person to person, but I'm curious if there is any rhythm to it? Also, should we expect new symptoms to surface?

I haven't used much antibiotics myself, pulsed any, or taken any cyst busters, at least not pharmaceutical ones, so I couldn't answer those even close to for certain, but I know a bit about herxing, so there's that.

Like you said, a lot of it depends on the person. I've heard of people having relatively quick reactions, myself included, and I've heard of people who had to be on a treatment for a period of days or even a couple weeks before they noticed any herxing.

New symptoms, as well as the reemergence of old ones that may have waned, and worsening of current ones.

The cyst buster should provoke some herxing, if the other antibiotics provoke the bacteria to go into their round body form.

I'm sure you already know about the importance of things like detoxing, general supplementation, etc.?

I've just recently started pulsing.

My schedule is a little different than what you are dealing with. I take 5 days a week, take 2 days off for 3 weeks, then I take one entire week off.

I feel worse a few days after starting. for the short breaks, it's of course not as noticible, but when I take a week off, I get a good herx.

The herx is highly dependent to the person and of course how much they detox. There are many threads on this topic and lots of folks that are big advocates of detoxing as much as possible. This will make a difference since the herx is due to a die off f the bacteria.

yancync - It all depends on the toxin load. That is what drives the symptoms. My first herx was on Day 4 of antibiotics. That happened several times...but I also have herxed after many weeks of antibiotics.

I never noticed anything with the addition of a cyst buster (Tinidazole) that I was pulsing.

It is different for everyone.
The one thing that was consistent for me was...when I backed off on the antibiotics (went to half dose or stopped for a day or two), and upped my detox, the here was alleviated.


So, the key is to detoxing - (sorry to sound like a broken record) - but don't wait until you are herxing - you don't want to wait until you have a crazy herx..
So, detoxing is something you do daily...many methods...to keep ahead of the toxin overload.

Thanks for the replies and tips. He did a lot of detox - mostly lemon water and epsom/baking soda baths during his 1 month of doxy but he didn't feel like it helped. Honestly he was a mess that month with fevers and extreme exhaustion. I'm keeping them going for him though now as he starts long-term abx pulsing. I guess he should detox in his off week too if he's having symptoms. We'll just have to see what happens in the next week as he ramps up to his full dosages. They recommended Pinella and Burbur for him too which I have ordered.
