Just wondering if there are any support groups or if anyone somewhat local with lyme is willing to get together with me via phone, e-mail, or in person. Having a lot of trouble accepting that I have lyme. 3 years ago started having symptoms. two years ago started antibiotics with llmd but herxed so bad that I ran from the program. I have tried several other things to get better not fully believing that i had lyme and thought it might be something else. Got a million tests done that showed nothing. also went to several natural doctors. Did not have a positive lyme test but DID have a positive bartonella fish test. First lyme test showed band 23. Tested with Igenex and was negative for lyme & co-infections. Had elisa test done and negative. I have been getting worse symptoms. Don't know what direction to head in, feeling very overwhelmed at the moment. Have a teen with autism and a 8 year old with aspergers/adhd and a unhappy marriage with someone who is gone most of the time and doesn't understand this disease. But most of all trying to find out how others have handled this and got better so I can follow in there footsteps.

Hi Candy - I'm so sorry that you are so overwhelmed. I'm glad you have reached out to us here.

So, you had a positive bartonella fish test...and then positive Band 23 (specific for lyme).


Did you Igenex WB show any bands positive (even though it was overall negative)

Because you were positive for bartonella, and also had band 23 for lyme positive, I would focus on lyme and co's treatment (if I were you).

When you herxed so bad with the LLMD protocol - were you doing enough detoxing?

you really should get back into treatment - either with another LLMD...or start an herbal protocol.
Either way, you need to start detoxing a.s.a.p. - regulary/daily/many methods.

I can imagine it must be difficult trying to care for yourself when you have the needs of a teen with autism, and a daughter with aspergers/adhd....not to mention an unsupportive spouse.

This forum has provided me with so much support...I hope you stay with us.

In addition, I hope you get some suggestions for support groups near you.
