i dont know alot about
RMSF, but I do know it can be life threatening if not diagnosed and treated soon enough, unlike lyme.
but once treated, is it curable? would you say it is better or worse than lyme?
I am just trying to understand it - mainly bc my husband and I in the long run, plan to leave the tri-state area (for many reasons, not bc of the lyme incidence, LOL). We have been doing tons of research, and
He mentioned North carolina, and me with all my lyme research remembered that NC is one of the RMSF leading states. Raleigh looks like a great place to live, but I am seriously about
to scratch it off the list bc of the RMSF - am I being overly cautious??

In my opinion, while the acute stages can be very dangerous, it's just different than Lyme. Believe me, you won't miss noticing the high fever that comes with it! I was treated for it first - at the age of 7 - but didn't get enough treatment to rid my body of the bacteria, so I ended up with chronic RMSF and tested positive for it and Lyme after my abx failure in 2007/2008. I tested positive for both again in 2009.
These infections are everywhere. There is no "safe" place. You have to be proactive and I suggest the use of preventatives. I use astragalus, but I know that there are homeopathic nosodes you can take as well.

"so there is such a thing as RMSF?"
Did you mean chronic RMSF? Yes, but there is very, very little information on it.
Until we can get help in containing the spread of these infections (starting with recognition of the size of the problems), it will only get worse, unfortunately.
I didn't mean to bring you down, just wanted to be honest as I can about
what I see.

You're welcome. I'm glad I didn't bring you down. I do hope that if you make this move, it turns out to be a really good thing for the whole family!!

thats what we are trying to do. NY is awesome in some ways, but aweful in others. We are worried for our kids' future - it is so darn expensive to live here, the traffic is horrendous, lots of people are just miserable, the stress factor is sky high, the negative list goes on and on. I would miss the NYC night life and the ocean alot though!! we are slowly thinking this thru - we have a few years, not in a hurry, but time flies by and it takes alot of planning to make such a big move - as you well know!! i sincerely hope the rest of my family will follow if we do this - they are thinking about
it, bc i think this would be the hardest part of the whole thing - i would hate to leave everyone behind, especially my parents, after all they have done for us. i want to be there for them when they need help. such a tough decision, but we have to put our kids' future first!!! wouldn't it be awesome if there was a state that was lyme free? LOL
