Hi Chapelle!-
I was diagnosed with overgrowth of Candida several months before I was diagnosed with Lyme.
I Was very strict for 6-7 weeks! The only fruit that I ate in the whole month was 3 apples. I was also taking Nystatin (tablet form).
I would read online that after about
1 week you should start to feel better. This didn't happen for me. I continued to get worse during that month. But like I said, I wasn't treating Lyme yet b/c I didn't know that I was infected.
After not feeling any better on the diet, I gave up.
There were too many rules. When I was getting worse, the doctor told me to over cook all my vegetables (military style, he called it). I even went as far as blending all my vegetables to try and relieve my bad GI issues. It seemed like nothing helped.
I even tried to eliminate night shed vegetables. Example: peppers, tomatoes, onion, garlic. Some people are sensitive to these.
It is bad enough to be "stuck" with just eating vegetables, but when you try to eliminate too many vegs., there is nothing left to eat! :(
Now that I am on Diflucan and Nystatin, I no longer have those intense sugar cravings. I do want something sweet from time to time, but usually an apple will help.
I am currently not doing the strict Candida diet, but I am still eating healthy. I like to eat peanut butter once and awhile! :)
I am kind of afraid, because I am on oral antibiotics, which we know can flare up Candida. But I am also taking Diflucan and Nystatin, and probiotic to help with the Candida. I personally feel like I am stuck in a vicious cycle. Grrrrr!!:)
I hope this diet works for you!
Best Wishes and continued healing!
