"Recently Dr. Eva Sapi has been promoted to Full Professor
at the University of New Haven and Chairman of her Department (Biology and Environmental Science) This promotion is very well deserved.

A consequence of her promotion is that she will have significantly less time to work in her laboratory.

Before her promotion, she was actively researching the "worm" (micro nematode) in Ixodid ticks... I am not sure if this research is still active. There have been no publications from Eva on this topic. I suggested to her...that since the Borrelia is actually two concentric cylinders separated by a cell wall- that a compartment inside of a compartment model [namely the
concentric cylinders of Bb- might be a great research model for investigating the inner compartment of the Nematode ("Worm") to search for borrelia spirochetes and other pathogens which live side by side with the nematode worm in the tick gut.

I too have seen Dr. Burrascano's writings about the efficacy of Ivermectin in treatment of Lyme Disease. Others , including Dr. Richard Horowitz, are prescribing Ivermectin for select patients. So the word has gone forth about Ivermectin and the importance of the tick transmitted nematode.

In order for the tick to transmit the nematode to a human, the route of such transmission would necessarily by
REURGITATION Transmission (as opposed to Salivary gland
transmission,which has been in vogue for many years.)

I am a proponent of regurgitation of tick gut contents to
the human at the time of tick bite.

I am in support of the notion that a second reservoir for TBD pathogens -namely pathogens residing -
INSIDE of the Nematode Gut,which lies INSIDE of the Tick gut.

Wow, that Alan MacDonald actually suggested this is amazing! I have been suspecting and thinking (even saying to a few people) this for a while now. Think about it. Bacteria and Viruses live inside just about every organism. They are in larger parasites, and nematodes, too.

As an example:

Think about how treating for heartworm in heavily-infected dogs can actually kill a dog. It's not because the die-off from the heartworm is so bad by itself necessarily (though that wouldn't be pleasant, to say the least), but because of the symbiotic bacteria (Wolbachia) that is RELEASED (from the dying Heartworm) that causes such an overwhelming immune response in the dog. The immune response is so great because you have a massive release of these bacteria all at once.

Veterinarians know this, so in heavily-infected dogs, Doxycycline is used because it kills the bacteria first, and then heartworm treatment is much safer after the bacterial loads are low.

The "Russian-doll syndrome" is very real. And, so, YES, I agree with this "notion."

Protomyxzoa's genome has been typed and it is best described as a cross between a nemotode and a protozoan. Perhaps this is what Dr MacDonald is referring to.

Ivermectin will knock it down but doesn't seem to knock it out.

Abstract: It was recently demonstrated that the lone star tick Amblyomma americanum could harbor filarial nematodes within the genus Acanthocheilonema. In this study, Ixodes scapularis (deer) ticks collected from Southern Connecticut were evaluated for their potential to harbor filarial nematodes.

Non-engorged nymphal and adult stage Ixodes scapularis ticks were collected in Southern Connecticut using the standard drag method. In situ hybridization with filarial nematode specific sequences demonstrated the presence of filarial nematodes in Ixodes ticks.

Filarial nematode specific DNA sequences were amplified and confirmed by direct sequencing in Ixodes nymphal and adult ticks using either general filarial nematode or Onchocercidae family specific PCR primers. Phylogenetic analysis of the 12S rDNA gene sequence indicated that the filarial nematode infecting Ixodes scapularis ticks is most closely related to the species found in Amblyoma americanum ticks and belongs to the genus of Acanthocheilonema.

Our data also demonstrated that infection rate of these filarial nematode in Ixodes ticks is relatively high (about 22% and 30% in nymphal and adult Ixodes ticks, respectively). In summary, the results from our studies demonstrated that filarial nematode infection was found in Ixodes ticks similar to what has been found in Amblyomma americanum ticks.

Probably via some combos of antiparasitics. I know Thomas Grier (he's worked on some of this research) mentioned a few treatment ideas on his Facebook page when he posted about this.
