Thyroid meds - how long before notice anything?

I started thyroid meds (nature-throid) 3/4 grain which contains T3 and T4. I was hoping it would help with something...maybe my brain fog, very cold hands and feet, fatigue... I haven't noticed any change. How long before one would see benefits? I would think it would be a fairly quick response. I'd rather not take it if it's not going to help me. I'm going to continue taking until I see my doc next month.

My last T3F was 3.0 and T4F 1.14 (not on meds).

Taking thyroid meds isn't like taking aspirin for a headache. It's more of a process to find the dose that will achieve optimal levels for the individual.....and then adjusting the dose to maintain those optimal levels.

Sometimes, people will feel improvements within a week of starting thyroid meds. If the dose they started on is adequate, they will continue to improve.

If the dose is inadequate (as most starting doses have to be), there will be no improvements and labs will show the need for a dose increase. Wash, rinse, repeat until levels are optimized.....and then regular labs/dose adjustments to maintain those optimal levels.

Your thyroid levels clearly showed the need for thyroid hormone supplementation. I hope you keep taking your meds.

Like stated above by CD, it takes time to build up. T4 takes 6 weeks. The T3 in your Nature Throid will build up faster and might even go above FT3 range untill your cells know to use it, then the level will lower a little. That what natural thyroid does. Any you might feel jittery in a week from getting use to the T3, this feeling if present, will pass. - been there, done that many times trying new brands.

Dont start and stop it like some people do- this will mess you up sysmtom wise.

Starting thyroid med is like putting a new plate of food infront of a picky child, takes time before they eat (use) it..

Great news! I had no idea it would take awhile. I assumed once you gave your body what it needed things kicked into gear. I will definitely continue and retest thyroid levels at next apt. Thanks guys!
