Hallucinating. Advice appreciated..

I know it's the million $ question; but is this herxing or Lyme??

I have been hallucinating, seeing rainbows in peripheral vision in addition to severe cognitive issues and nearly incapacitated. Diagnosed in August. Tick bite 35 years ago. Took 2 months of azithromycin and tetralysal. Felt great the first month then about 5-6 weeks started what I assume was die-off. Horribly swollen knees, toes, and bad side affects from ABX. So LLMD agreed to switch to herbs. Been doing a modified Cowden since the end of October, up to full dosage. It has just been going downhill since then. Because I (think?) I had delayed herx with ABX could this be a herx too or perhaps this protocol is not for me? ALL my pre-treatment symptoms have returned, plus some (like hallucinating). That makes me think it is the Lyme. I would think if it was die-off it would be different symptoms and be getting better especially after 3 months. Do some folks not herx or have very delayed?
Any thoughts?

Yes, that sounds like you are herxing if all your pre-treatment symptoms have returned and then some.

No, not necessarily. Can you back down on the Cowden dosage, fewer drops of the antimicrobials and up the detox until you're feeling better? The recommended Cowden dosages are very high.

Sounds like herxing to me as well. I had that happen when I first started trying to treat these infections as well. It sounds like your just overwhelmed with toxins still. Have you had any of the gene testing done to see if you have those mutations that interfere with the detoxing ability of the body?

I would encourage you to reduce the dosage of your treatments (but not those that will help you detox), and to increase what you do to help you detox.

My dad is an eye doctor and he's had patients with the Lyme spirochetes in their optic nerves. So you could be experiencing herxing there.

Yes, I was hallucinating for awhile. Visual and auditory.

It probably is herxing.

Unless you are taking something to stop the flagella they could be swimming away to protect themselves....i get the visual lightening too ...thought it was blood sugar but nerve sounds more feasable...

I guess I just seem to have delayed reactions. I will definitely reduce the dosage(or even take a break for a few days) and up my detoxing. Thanks for the tips.
At my next appointment I will ask to about those tests too.
I always had a gut feeling that I don't get rid of things like "normal" people. Must be a Lymie issue.
All I have to say is the hallucinating and paranoia is so scary!! :(

I too had those delayed reactions. It could take anywhere from 3 - 7 days for things to "hit me", depending on what it was, how debilitated I was and a few other things.

Get rid of the bacteria and you get rid of the flagella.

I stopped taking all my herbs a week ago and still having symptoms that are getting worse. I am so confused! However the hallucinations are a bit better..

One of my main problems is stabbing pain in my liver and spleen. In fact this is how I find out I had Lyme. A CT scan showed I had cysts on them but 3 doctors told me that was normal even though I could barley eat or breath because of them. When I first met my LLMD within 5 minutes he said those are Lyme cysts and then later tests confirmed.
The pain(and I assume the cysts) went away when I was on ABX but has gradually returned worse than before. This is why I keep thinking it's not herxing but the Lyme is back. Should I guess Cowden's program wasn't covering the cystic form??? I know in Buhner's new book he talks about Lyme really liking these organs.

BTW, Traveler: Thanks for the link about the visual symptoms! I love it. And now I finally have a name for why I can't really read anymore, "textual bombardment." , LOL. ;) I am sure you all can relate!

Makes for a quandry. .if liver cant detox meds but meds are needed to heal .hmm...i heard flagyl/ tinidazole and or neem stops the wiggler. Im trying neem first . are milk thistle, alpha lipoic acid ,burdock rooting ing up ? Keep us posted trial

Im not diagnosed (yet) lol.So take this how ya want.But i halucinate sometimes worse then others.I see phantom images in my peripheral and have delayed images.I also See lights in my house on or doors in my house cracked open but when i look of coarse none of it is there.It wigs me out not gonna lie lol.I have every single visual symptom on the tired of lyme page.The only one i dont have is the Height or depth instability Not really sure what that is lol.So i may actually have it and just not understand it lol.But thats just my two cents in the piggy bank lol.

I also had textual bombardment in the beginning but not so bad anymore.Lately every now and then the page of words kind of seems to have a ripple/wave affect go over for some reason.Dosnt happen all the time though just recently started to notice it.
